MM&FF Redheaded step.....

Hey guys my suscriction went out on MM&FF's in Feb. I renewed it but missed the March issue.
What did I miss in March on the redheaded step child part 6?
It said they had 274rwhp before the spray, I missed something. Back in part 5 they said they had 240rwhp.

BTW it looks like us 96-98 guys are gonna have another series to follow...Beginner's Luck.

They had the stock non-PI heads ported and pulled the old motor out for a CHP built 4.6, and upgraded to more radical cams, i believe.

they realized with NPI heads and all the bolt-ons in the world, the car was still slow.

They added a 100 shot of the juice and made like 370 some RWHP and 497 RWTQ....those should be almost correct the magazine is out in my car

I have that issue, that is in May's, I missed March's issue.

It was originally supposed to be on a budget. But like all project cars, things change. One issue (can't remember which one), there was an editorial written up about what they had done, the road blocks they encountered, and what was changing. From what I remember they have decided that they will soon do the PI swap. :-(

Yup, they really lost track of their goal -- 300 HP keeping the non-PI heads and at the same time keeping it streetable.

Something this board knew a long time ago -- on the 96-'98 GTs go the PI route if you wanna stay NA.

I too was very disappointed the track the RHSC took. Keeping budget and N/A NPI heads in mind, I would have liked to have seen them purchase a used set of NPI heads and self port (show how) combine with a set of VT stage I cams or stage II with springs. Then add bolt-ons i.e. (cheap) PI intake, full exhaust, CAI with Tbody and plenum, pulleys etc... This would keep goal of NPI heads and stay cheap. No PI parts seems a silly stance if it fits the budget to me.

Adding Nitrous in this latest issue?

Funny... I was looking at the MM&FF issue the other day with the latest update on it I guess, and I read 300 N/A HP on a non pi GT, or something like that. I though, "well damn... if a non PI GT can do it, why do PI GT's have trouble getting over 300hp N/A..?" Then you guys say they added a shot of nitrous. That dissapointing. I dont like naaawwwzzzzz.

Why is it most people with 96-98 GT's buy the P.I. heads for there cars. I realize the stock heads are junk, but why don't people buy like some better heads than what comes stock on a 99+. I would get some MPH heads or something if I was going through all the trouble. That way they could beat 99+ cars instead of spending all that money to have the same power.

They buy the stock pi heads because they are relatively cheap.In most cases you can get used pi heads for 300 bucks or around that price range.And doing a pi swap does not make a 96-98 car just have the same power, it gives them more power than stock 99+ gt's because it raises the compression.
