If you want to start playing the "Extended" oil change interval game I'd seriously consider sending oil samples in to a reputable laboratory like Blackstone at every oil change. This is just to ensure the TBN's are holding up in the oil. The lab will tell you how much of the additives in the oil are depleted and will even recommend a new interval based on the test results.I change the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months now thought I'd try 6/6 with the extended.
Everyone, I have an 03 GT with 31,000 miles on it and I've been using Mobil 1 5W-30 with the Motorcraft filter since the first oil change. I was thinking of switching to the 5W-20 extended but would like some feedback before I change.
I'm a Castrol Full Synthetic man myself. Hell, if it's good enough to put in Jonh Force's 7,000hp+ motor, my little motor should be fine.
Thought about going to Royal Purple though....Good Stuff...
the oil that john force uses isnt available off the shelf and looks more like gear oil when going into the motor.
the only Castrol Syntec i would use would be the Euro-Spec 0w30 or BMW spec 10w60(not in a mod motor).
i use Mobil 1 5w30 with a FL-820S in my mustang and German Castrol 0w30 with a motorcraft fl-820S i my grand marquis.
