Mobile DMV Inspection unit in NJ

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside with no cats or egr.....

I was cruising down Rt 22 in mountainside (Not in my GT) 10:00 am Fri. and low and behold there was one lane blocked off and they had a huge truck and a bunch of DMV people checking cars. The truck said Mobile DMV Inspection unit on the side. The guys were jacking up cars and checking with mirrors. I couldn't tell if they were just snaging people with red stickers or people at random.

I haven't seen one in action since 95. I was wondering if anyone has ever been caught by one of these?

And if you have no cats or egr what can they do? Someone told me they can take the car.

My friend has seen 2 so far, I hope I dont get stuck in one, if anything Im turning around and going another way.

its times like these that i love having my cats

not that they could even see under my damn car without having their face touching the ground hahaha

dont forget that if they wanna be pricks...they can nail you for just about anything that isnt stock...ive heard of guys gettin a hard time for a cold air intake...so idk

as long as the part is C.A.R.B legal and has the sticker, they can't do crap.

I saw them jacking up cars to look.....

Yeah a nice U-Turn would be what I would do.

I hope they don't have these in MA.

how often have you seen the stickers on the parts? plenty of parts are perfectly legal but they still get picked on...i dont understand it either way

why does the DMV always gotta ruin everyones fun? i think there is better ways to spend our tax dollars than paying some smucks to check for emissions parts on your car. i think the roads could use a lil work instead....lol

yea for some reason they always have this in Mountainside. I live in Union so i see it all the time and make sure i keep my nose outta that part of town. No cats for me with Tint and a sticker i paid 100 bucks for. Yea ok no thanks!

Haven't seen one in use on the highway...........but we DO have mobile emssions testing capability.........I remember they had it set up for free testing, at Brockton Fairgrounds, a while back......

Will they do anything to out of state cars cause im from pa but have to drive through nj to get to school

If you stay on the main high ways they wont be there (congestion problems) but its like state highways is where they like to prey.
