Hey, I am pretty new to the forums and new to the Mustangs. While I am getting useful information out of all of it, a lot of information is conflicting and out of context. I have been hearing that a lot of mod's to the Mustang, while cost around the same, have a huge difference in terms of priority. Things like the MAF, CAI (? I dont even know what this is), and even exhaust.

I wanted to see if it was possible to build a general mod priority list. I know everyone has different opinions, and there are different situations that can change things, but I wanted to knock at least the big things out. Generally I wanted to stay with a N/A Mustang, just because I wont be throwing on a supercharger anytime soon, but if you have information for modding with a power adder please say so too

So, tell me what to do first

MAF means Mass Air Meter and CAI means Cold Air Induction.I would start
small with a CAI and mod more as you learn more about Mustangs if you must
mod your stang.Tell us about your stang!Welcome Aboard!

Thanks!
What shifter would you reccomend?
What do you mean by an adjustable clutch quadrant?

I hear a lot of flak on the CAI's and MAF, I was wondering if anyone could tell me about that

About the gears, how does that affect the gas mileage? And, for driveability, is or worth it to downgrade to 3.73's or is the speed tradeoff too large if I was going to upgrade anyways?

holy carp, sleep is kicking in.

for the gears, 3.73's aren't really worth it. since you got a 5sp go with the 4.10's you'll see like a 1mpg difference. small price to pay for excellent feel

So a pretty big consensus is gears, so I can get that one tucked away

Now what about induction? And MAF's? I hear there is an issue with running lean, and if thats the case, can that be fixed with a tuner? I have an SCT tuner I was wondering if that was a quick fix for the problem, so that I could get the HP without the problems

If you get a tuner like a DiabloSport Predator for around $350, you can do a bunch of things plus

a) you won't need a Speedcal for #3 (around $70)
b) you won't need MIL Eliminators for #4 (around $50)
c) you won't need the TA in #6 (around $120)

you both have different trannys. im taching 3000 @ 80, lazerred02 has a 3650 tranny, so he is turning ~2700-2800 at 80, so thats, what, ~2450 @ 70? not 3000
