If his car being a 97 (non-PI) I think the 4.30 might be too much. Those motors quit making power a little after 4000rpm. I should because mine is a 98. The 4.30 would be good if you decide to change your cams and intake or do a headswap. If you are trying to save money buy some PI cams 2001 or newer (bolt-on sprocket) and a PI intake, this will help out big time. I am running Comp cams in mine and that was the first time mine would easily hit 6000rpm. Just a thought.

If you Supercharge your car, 4.30s would most likely be too steep. 4.10s might even be but that is debatable. I will be supercharging eventually and i may have to switch to 3.73s, but i will decide that after i get the charger. It basically comes down to personal preference but if you have a supercharger, you will likely have too much power going to the wheels for that gear ratio. 3.73s tend to be what people prefer with supercharged engines.

Also, regarding the link you posted. those gears are for a 9" rear end. your car comes stock with an 8.8. Here is the link to the gears that i purchased for my car- http://www.mustangtuning.com/fopege4ra.html . they are made by ford so they will fit just like stock and should not whine if installed properly. they also have a brand called "motive" gears. they claim to be just as good as ford but cheaper. I say, the ford gears are only $20 more so it only makes sense to go with Ford.

Well I rather stay on the gears subject. I guess I'll get $:10's then, But what do I need to get with them besides the bearing kit? remember its an Automatic, I heard I may need some chip.... But do I really? don't have much cash.

Ok so I'll look for some 8.8, Now should I really get 4.10's or .30's? I rather have acceleration really, but you mentioned something about 10's being better if I ever get a supercharger. Also is there any extra stuff I need to get with the gears? I know about the bearing kit, but what else?

if you get the gears and the bearing kit, then have them professionaly installed then you should be set. HOWEVER if you for some reason decide to attempt the installation yourself, you will need 2qts of differential fluid and a 4oz bottle of friction modifier.

i dont think you will need a chip being that your car is older, i know that you would need a speedcal however.
I may be wrong, i dont know much about automatics.

Dallas Mustang has one for around $100. There are other places that carry them and probably for few bucks cheaper.

What a speed cal does is hook-up between your transmission and computer (speedometer) All you have to do is splice in some wires and have the right code for your car. (tire size, original gearing, new gearing) That should be pretty much it. It can be installed when the gears are being put in.

I know they have them. I was about to order mine a couple of months. Let me check. Also when you order one it is best you probable do it over the phone so you can them info on your car to setup the speed-cal for you before shipping it out.
