If his car being a 97 (non-PI) I think the 4.30 might be too much. Those motors quit making power a little after 4000rpm. I should because mine is a 98. The 4.30 would be good if you decide to change your cams and intake or do a headswap. If you are trying to save money buy some PI cams 2001 or newer (bolt-on sprocket) and a PI intake, this will help out big time. I am running Comp cams in mine and that was the first time mine would easily hit 6000rpm. Just a thought.
