If you will look through a Jegs catalog, you will find a set of mufflers called Warlocks. They are the exact same thing as what they did. I had a set on my old 5.0, and they were so FREAKING SWEET!!! . I got more compliments from that exhaust setup than I ever have for Flows. The only thing is, they REALLY drone when your on the hw. You have to like the sound of it, or it will drive you NUTS!!! I loved it though, so I always ran with the plugs out except for when I had to have it emissions tested

should I cut out holes in the flows and forget about the threads? If I dont like the sound can I have them welded back in? Is it the same sound quality? I know it will be louder.

I had warlocks on my 86 GT, and they sounded awesome unless the pipes were cold. When you first start it, they pop extremely loud when you let off the gas.Once they are warmed up for a while they sound great.

With the caps in, the car was really quiet.Without the caps, they would probably sound the same. Seeing as it is a straight shot from the inlet to the new opening since the normal inlet and opening are offset.Essentially creates straight pipes.I don't think that the type of muffler will matter much since it is'nt going through the baffles. The warlocks have a piece with a gasket and three wingnuts that makes taking the plugs out quick and easy, but if you are wanting to make the effort to do the work on your current mufflers, I'd say go for it.
