modding bug withdrawals

Half way done with school for the semester and haven't been able to save up any cash for modding. I'm going through withdrawals here.Been getting a lot of shifts at work also (Sport Chalet). All I have been trying to do is save up for a tuner and even thats not going to happen anytime soon. havent been eating out. Been actually eating really healthy and its cheaper.

anyone have any tips to save more inable to mod more?

Very respectable saving like you're doing bro. I've been there. Maybe you can get a set of 4.10's to hold you over until the tune. It's relatively cheap and great bang for your buck. Look for a set of sticky tires as well for track play. You can usually find a set of those used for a good price. Nitrous on the 4.6 is very safe and a 125 shot will put a huge smile on your face. I'd do that as my first " big" mod. Good luck!

Man, I'm in the Navy and made some dumbass choices when I was young...because...well...that's what a lot of us do. Then, I started learning from the dumb I was doing. Long story short, "saving" money is all cool in theory, but it's about HOW you SPEND your money that leads to the saving. Once you get that, you're good.

Tip #1 - Learn how to cook.

Tip #2 - Used parts are not always bad parts. SoldMySS mentioned some good things, so you could try to find, like, the tires USED somewhere, plus other things. I'm always seeing suspension pieces up for sale all over. Make sure the used pieces are in good shape, though. Looking around for deals is going to take some patience, and young people don't always have it. However, exert some will and look around for good deals. They're out there...just have to find them. Trust me, searching can be part of the "fun".

An example: MAN, I needed to ditch these ty street tires for when I headed out to the road course. They were holding me back like a mofo. However, there was NO WAY I could convince my wife to let me buy a brand new dedicated wheel/tire setup, AND she was pregnant at the time. A buddy of mine I met at a track event mentioned to me a set of "scrubs" for tires. I was like, "WTF is that?" Scrubs are BARELY USED sets of tires that might still have plenty of life left in them. Best part is they cost a fraction of the new price. I found a set of rebadged Hoosier racing slicks at Bimmerworld for $75 a pop. That's friggin' excellent when you consider that brand new they can run as high as $400 a piece! This set I picked up had ONLY 2 practice laps on them!

And then! Just by showing a little patience, I found a BRAND NEW set of Steeda Q1S wheels for almost half the price. Brand new.

There you go. Dedicated track setup.

All I'm saying is...just look around, my man. Have some fun doing it. You'll find some out there top grade, discounted.

If you can put $20 a week away that will mount up soon. I put all my coins at the end of the day in a jug, it builds up pretty fast.

Ive already started these XD I found out going to Sprouts(grocery store) is easier, healthier and light on the paycheck depending on what you buy. and I'm healthhy. Im trying to find used parts from my buddy. He literally just got a gt500 hood that had a few dents in it. and since his fmaily owns 2 shops he fixed it himself. Im welcome to the shop anytime I please. and like you convincing your wife, I have to convinvce my dad....the money saving king. they say in tough times you need to save 6 months to live on. he saved 2 years worth. so he got to relax while looking for a new job when downey tanked. Im learning from him. but both of our "downfalls" are cars. He likes to buy the newest models and I like to mod mine. he has been driving since what 1974 and he has now had over 90 cars from trans ams to challengers to mustangs to a GTO. I get this all the time from ppl and I say thank you. "you're just like your father"

I use my debit card most of the time. but I have save the change from bank of america. im at 120.00 right now. and it keeps building. but I have another flaw. Im an outdoors person. I snowboard surf longboard(almost religiously) and thats expensive. but I work at Sport Chalet and get massive discounts. all my snowboarding gear. 1800 got it for...800. now work needs to sell car parts.

Keep an eye on Craigslist and eBay for used parts and see if there are any swap meets near enough for you to attend. A guy on another mustang board claims to have bought Ford Racing stingers for under $100. Get a jar and at the end if the day throw in any change and singles you have, the money will accumulate quickly.
