Im installing the cable clutch setup right now and have a question about the clutch pedal.

The instructions for the cable clutch kit say to

To make room for the clutch bracket, the top spring lever on the clutch pedal must be cut off.

I tried searching and found several threads on this conversion but didnt find any that mentioned cutting the spring lever off.

I am converting from an auto so I dont know where the spring would have normally been. There looks to be 2 hooks on the pedal where a spring can hook onto.

I attached a picture that has a circle around what I think it is talking about but want to make sure before I cut it off.

you have to cut it to be able to install a semiquandant that all kits use.

Yes, thats the tab you have to cut off. I used the MD kit in my Falcon.

Thank you both.


Now another question I have after doing some fitting...

Does anyone know how much cable travel the should be? The cable bracket on the pedal is bottoming out on the bottom side of the cowl that is behind the dash.. I was able to get a little more clearance by carefully mashing down on the clutch pedal and just let the lever make a dent.

Anyways I have just barely a little more than a inch of cable travel and was wondering if that is gonna be enough. The clutch pedal goes down to about 2-3 inches off the floor.

Did anyone make a pedal stop to prevent it from hitting the cowl?

Try to rotate the cable quandant clockwise (while looking at it standing on the driver's side). This will increase your pedal's travel. You need about 2" at the upper arm.

That would seem like it will make the quadrant hit the bottom of the cowl earlier thus giving me less travel.

The travel I measured was not the upper arm, it was how for the cable physically moves. I have about 1.25 of a inch. I searched google and came across another forum with sombody asking the same question and he said he had 1.25 inches as well and someone replied saying there should be atleast 2 inches.

Ill try and reclock it but it would seem like thats going to bring the quadrant closer to where its hitting on the cowl.

Spoke to Will at Modern Driveline and he told me that 1.25 inches is what the cable should have.

He said this is plenty of travel as long as you use a diaphragm style clutch as they only need 0.300 inches of travel at the throwout bearing.
