Mods for my 1996 5 speed mustang GT

Hey, I have a stock 96 5 speed GT that I just bought and really want to make it fast. I plan on some 3.73 gears, AEM brute force intake, MAC 75 mm throttle body, MAC 1 5/8" Long tube headers, SS x pipe w/ cats, MAC dual 2 1/2 catback w/ 3" tips, iridium plugs, 9 MM wires and MAC underdrive pulleys. Do you think my Air/Fuel ratio will still be OK? How does all that sound and what do you guys think a good set up would be for around 1500 dollars because all this is only around 1500? also, what do you think it will run in a quarter mile with my hopeful mods?
thanks

I say ditch the Throttle body. It will save you $200 and you will barely see the hp on a dyno, let alone feel it at all. Most people with your mods get about 2 more hp from a throttle body. Use the $200 and get a Timing Adjuster or some pullies (or at least a mod you will feel for $200). Now 1/4 mile times vary from person to person and car to car. A lot of practice helps, but also can cost you in the way of repairs (bad u-joints, seals, bearings, driveshafts being thrown out of whack). Also even though stangs all come out of the factory the "same", you will occasionaly hear of a factory freak.

If you are puting that much into the car spend it on a headswap. Search this site and others if you need to, but that would be your best bet without a doubt. brand new the parts will be about $1200, used it will be less, use leftover money for the gears, midpipe etc. if you have leftover. dont piss around with the little stuff if you have the money to spend and want to make power.

I say put cams in it then some gears. The cams will easily give you around 25rwhp (aftermarket cams not the PI cams) Next open the exhaust with an o/r pipe and 4.10 gears. The gears and cams will put you around $1000. My opinion would be to get the car to breath in more air (PI intake and cams) before you put the long tubes on to get the true benefits from them. Good luck

My mods...minus the CAI and add camshafts. Crower and Comp make good cams for our car. Head swap is going to cost more than 1500 if you have a shop do it. A cam swap wil be pretty close to $1000 through a shop. If you are the slightest bit handy you can do alot of things yourself.

If I do a head swap with performace cams and such(on my stock GT), how much HP should I see(considring a cobra has 305 with stock cams) maybe around 330-340 at the crank? Also, wouldnt a 75mm throttle body, up from the stock 55mm give better airflow with an aftermarket intake and exhaust? :
thanks

My sig. shows the mods I've done so far to the car. I don't regret a bit of it. I haven't had a chance to dyno the car yet, but I dropped 6/10's and gained 6 mph in the quarter mile. And the car sounds great too!! I have no complaints! Next, however, is a supercharger and Bilstein shocks and struts with subframe connectors and sway bars with SSR GT3 wheels and a paint job!! Then, I'll be satisfied and begin to concentrate on the looks of the car.

Awwww man you got the GT!!!! Damn i made the mistake of gettin a 96 GT. Save all your money till next summer and get a 99+ 2v motor. before you do anything check your intake, they crack all the time.

I'm sorry on knocking on the 96-98 2vs but damn i go sick of how slow it was. I had a factory freak so that was pretty kool but when i got enough money i did a motor swap. The motor swap fixed all my problems.
