Well, the heads that I thought were GT-40's, are not. I misunderstood my buddy on the phone. They are e7's ported out to the flow specs of GT-40x heads.

I went to check 'em out, and they look great. Clean, smooth port job, paperwork from the shop, brand new valves, brand new springs, $300. So I got 'em.

Here's my question/s: What kind of power can I make with the stock cam/RR's with the heads, an intake, full exhaust, maf? I'm not looking for crazy power, just a good amount that will idle nicely, won't break the bank, and won't be a nightmare to tune. This is my DD, and it's an auto.

Let me know what you guys think.

I doubt I'll make 300+ flywheel hp on the stock cam/RR's on GT-40's. With a B cam yes, but thats a different story.

I don't want a B cam! lol

I'm wondering the power I'll make without a cam on E7's ported to flow at GT-40 specs, with a TFS/eddy intake, maf, exhuast, tune.

I made just shy of 250rwhp with a combo of self ported E7's kinda like your talking about.

You can see the details and a chart on my site.

You would make a bit less as you are an auto kinda guy.

How did yor car feel at that point with 3:73's and about 250rwhp?

Thats just what I'm looking for right now:
-About 250rwhp
-moderate gears (like 3:73's)
-clean, AODE friendly idle for a DD
-minimal expense

About like it feels at this time ... it needs about 50 more

It was an improvment over the stock E7's for sure.

Hope it all works out to your liking

I'd say Grady's in the ballpark...either way your gonna see a big difference from stock....your heading in the direction I went..I'm 262RWHP...I run a mild cam, the Steeda 19 with Thumper E7's, stock 19 inj's and stock EEC...
I can still bang 20+ MPG around town and mid 13s...Cant complain...
Even though your auto, I see you have some tranny mods...That'll help..

Don't think you'll quite make it to the 265 mark like Andy with no cam.

I think it is worth noting something here

Even though at first thought, 240 to 250rwhp seems kinda anemic

It is quite an improvement from stock

Iron heads can provide a good gain for the buck spent

If you don't sink too much in em, you can get all or most of your $$$ back when you're ready to step up to the next level

Awesome. My combo is going to be yours w/o the cam (clean idle for the aode, less tuning, less expenses) What maf are you running? Fuel presure. regulator? I'm ordering the trick flow street intake after the 1st of the month to go with the heads and all the gaskets, and want to make sure I get everything I need. I think with 3:73's and my transgo kit, it should be a pretty fun car. I'll go from a 15.1 @ 93.3 to hopefully a mid-high 13 sec car. Big improvement for a limited budget, DD car.

Sounds good, though you might want to consider 4.10's with the AODE. They really wont make the car's revs too bad.

I run a Pro-m77, Kirban, 190 pump, 38lbs, 14deg...

If yours was a pinger you may very well see that go...mine was terrible with the pinging...since the heads it gone...Go figure..Either way she'll be more stout than now...its a start...

Andy made me think about something that may help with that

While you got the heads off the car ....................

Polish up those chambers real good with some sanding rolls
