more opinions on SLP exhaust???

so i was looking at Idiot5.0's pictures of his SLP Loud Mouth cat-back and i think the tips and fit of everything looks excellent...but i still want some opinions on it. when my exhaust is finished i plan to have long tubes with a h or x pipe that has converters on it (BBK or Catco probably)...anyways, how would the SLP compare to the Flowmaster American Thunder for instance? i know what the flow's sound like, so i'm just wondering if it will be all that much louder considering i'm going to be sticking with cats (emissions tests blow...) BTW, i've read what everyone has posted in the past few weeks about how they sound ridiculously loud with O/R x pipes, but since that won't be an issue here i just wanted to know what you all think. as it stands though, i think the system looks awesome and am interested in the resonator idea.......thanks everyone!

I think Idiot 5.0 has some sound clips of his loudmouth and the sound clips have pretty good quality if I remember correctly. Listen to his exhaust and decide for yourself. You'll get mixed opinions but its your opinion that matters.

IMO it sounds a little too GMish, not really a mustang sound, but like I said you'll have to decide for yourself.

Ive been lazy and never got the sound clip of me revving through the gears from behind the car. Im gonna go grab my cousins laptop(he lives with me) an go in the ally and go through first. Il post again in a few minutes.

Yeah, the windy city here likes to mess with microphones. And a cop saw me rip down the ally. When he saw what me and my dad were doing he laughed and told us to keep it down and keep it to the track. Luckly no tickets but ill try tomorrow afternoon when the wind dies down.

thanks man...god its windy here today.....good thing the mustang is in the garage, otherwise it would be getting pelted with trash cans and recycle bins all afternoon like the neighbor's toyota, haha

To each their own but i think it sounds like a chevy truck, and just not really a good tone in my opinion but the fit and finish of it is outstanding

My SLP Experience

I have run an SLP catback for about 18 months.

I recently decided to go the rest of the way with SLP long tube headers, SLP X Pipe and SLP cats.

The cats are easy to install, the headers are not! It took many hours of pain in the garage. Also if you are installing on a 1996 - 2004 convertible you will have to get your welding kit out to modify the K frame.

The problem I faced once I got it all together was it was waaay too loud. Now I like a loud sound, but this was ridiculous.

So I went out and bought a new Flowmaster cat back system, it now sounds very nice indeed and I have not lost any flow or power.

So I now have a pair of SLP catbacks for sale with lovely polished tips if anyone is interested? Very good as catback, if your system is already modified from the catback point forward I would not reccomend SLP cat backs. You need to go for a good single box type muffler rather than a straight through resonator.

Honestly I love my SLP catback. I have had mine since they first came out for the 94-95. Mine sounds just like I want it and I also have a prochamber. I am still on the stock headers but, my new set up will be as follows.
SLP catback (already on the car)
Dr. Gas X pipe (still have in the box)
BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers (not yet purchased)
I have been through a total of 6 different exhausts and the one stated about will be my 7th set up and my last. I won't get rid of my SLP's, I happen to like the sound.

Don't get the SLP catback unless you own a bowtie.
I heard both catbacks on alot of different set up's and the Flowmaster
catback sounds 100X better in my opnion.
