I got my car started after 4 days of having it sit in Bethlehem since it wouldnt start. I know I need a new starter. Does anyone know of a good brand for a 92 LX? So now that it is starting, the voltage on the battery fluctuates like crazy when I start it up and leave it in park. This morning when I started it to go to PT, the interior lights were dimming and it just sounded awful, like it was dying. Do I now need a new battery? I was planning on putting march U/D pulleys on and leaving the stock alternator pulley on, but now I am scared to even put any pulleys on. Any thoughts??? Thanks

Ryan

'92s used the high torque mini starters. I dont really think that one is better than the other as long as it works. The problem you are having sounds like a charging problem more than anything. Prolly needs to have the alternator replaced. Pullys will work fine as long as everything else is working OK.

Probably some haywire e- stuff.
First check the grounds and Alt cables. Once these wires corrode your screwed. Hope that its the cables, cause thats probably the cheapest fix.

Excellent advice...

The secondary power ground is between the back of the intake manifold and the driver's side firewall. It is often missing or loose. It supplies ground for the alternator, A/C compressor clutch and other electrical accessories such as the gauges. Any car that has a 3G alternator needs a 4 gauge ground wire running from the block to the chassis ground where the battery pigtail ground connects.
