So I'd like to get an '05 GT, but paying for college, that's not a possibility anytime soon. After keeping the car stock for 5 years ('99 GT), I at least need a refreshening. Having read these forums for some time, suspension work appears to get the most noticeable improvements.
I just bought a set of Steeda Sport Springs to start, as I want about 1.25" drop all around. I keep seeing all kinds of different drops from Steeda Sport Springs, some claiming 1.75" in the front, 1" in the back. What will the drop be, and why are there so many differences among people?
Because I got the springs, I see about 50% of people saying Caster/Camber plates are needed and 50% say not needed for Steeda Sports. I guess I'll just play it safe and get them for the best possible alignment?
This appears to cause a chain reaction, causing the need for Steeda X2 balljoints and the Steeda bumpsteer kit to improve geometry and eliminate bumpsteer. So, it looks like I need to buy these.
Finally, I'm going to get the full length Steeda subframe connectors.
This car is a daily driver, it will brave snowy winters, and there are some rough roads around here. I'm looking to make the car feel more solid, corner sharper, handle better, maintain ride quality, reduce the side-to-side hop of the rear end when going over bumps/holes/ruts, and most importantly, I want to reduce the tendency of the steering wanting to constantly grab in all different directions, based on the road surface (bumpsteer?).
So, are Steeda full-length SFC's, sport springs, C/C plates, bumpsteer kit, and X2 balljoints a good choice to improve these things? Should I add lower control arms to the list? Any other cheaper things I should consider that give great results?
Finally, do you have any idea how much everything would cost to get installed at once (I don't have access to tools or a garage)?
Hopefully there weren't too many questions that no one responds. A response to any one question would be appreciated. I just want to confirm this before wasting money and doing something I regret. Thanks!
