ok..i have the same problems as wrathchild but my car is an auto..and it only vibrates at the top of each gear

also..there is oil leaking from my engine..my uncle saw it comming from the front and rear main seal..but my oil was over-ful..so we emptyd about half a quart..and it didnt leak from the seals..but still seemd like it was leaking from the valve covers. how i can tell its leaking is there is smoke billowing from under the hood aruond the headers/cat/valve covers/dipstick (inside)

also..if my main seals are leaking, what should i also replace? its a 5liter 302

also..would any of u guys be willing to pull the engine if it is the seals and maybe help do some bodywork? im in nothern michigan

The blue smoke from under the hood is most likely oil leaking from your valve cover gaskets, and dripping down onto your headers and burning off.

alright..but when i put more oil in (lost half a quart driving 3 hours at 65mph) it wasnt smoking when it was at low but when i put another quart in it was at full..and when i got home (15 minutes drive) it was billowing again..its alot more then just the valve covers..but im not shure if the main seals are also the problem

i would clean it all up really well and run it and watch for new trails. fluids can run all over, making it difficult to pin point (ie a valve cover leak can appear to be a rear main, etc).
that is what i would do. good luck.

if it is your main seals you dont have to pull the motor just lift it a little. valve covers seals are easy to re-place.... your either leaking or burning it. they make a dye you can put in your oil that is black light sensitive so when it leaks you know from where might want to look into that.

a wet and dry compression test or leakdown test can help pinpoint it. these motors do burn some.
good luck

is their a way i can reduce the burning oil..i really dont like when i stop at a light and smoke pours out from under my car..

oh yea..when i went to mcdonnalds, stopped to order, and the entire drivers side..even to the rear was smoking..gah
