I doubt you will find many guys using motecs on this board. I have a friend that uses it on his 2jz toyota motor. It pretty much can do anything, variable valve timing, but its not the most user friendly ecu and its pretty expensive.
have you read about holley efi at all? Pretty awesome for the price and its going to change aftermarket EFI systems for years to come
No i havent but what im lpoking for is the most simple wiring system i can find i dont want to put my old harness back in just because im only using about a third of the harness as i dont have powersteering ac smog emissions heat etc. Etc.
Put an original harness and computer back in the car: It will be simpler to troubleshoot and maintain. One of a kind systems leave you on your own out on a limb with no help.
Removing/disconnecting the emissions will not make more HP, only more problems. All the emissions shuts off at wide open throttle and the residual losses are in the range of 2-5 HP. Cat converters will subtract a little more HP, but not enough to be a problem. The reduction in HP isn't important enough to make a difference unless you are in all out professional drag strip racing like the finals for "Pinks".
Here's a book that will get you started with how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works.
Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.
It's about $25-$40 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select books and then select search. Use the ISBN number (without dashes or spaces) to do a search. Try searching using M-1832-Z1 instead of the ISBN number if you don’t get any positive results. You may only be able to find a used one, since the book is as old as the cars it covers. Or you order it from your Ford dealer as SVO part no. M-1832-Z1.
Use the ISBN number and your local library can get you a loaner copy for free. Only thing is you are limited to keeping the book for two weeks. It is very good, and I found it to be very helpful.
The reason theres no emissions is from previous owner and the original harness is to ratted from splice connectors and such but the holley hp looks like a great product but with that do i need more inputs or outputs? Because on the site it said if you do you need to bump up to the dominator
Ok i found that im just going to get a holley efi hp system for ems and a painless wiring system for my chassis harness so anyone put one of these harnesses in before?
You're going to be lonely way out in the boonies with no one to help troubleshoot problems.
I will be blunt and ask about your electrical & wiring skills: are they topnotch?
Do you understand how the electronics part of computers, and especially automotive computers work?
Have you ever been successful with a tuner like the Tweecer or Moates QuarterHorse?
If the answer to all of those questions isn't a really BIG yes, I really am the best.. "I can fix any computerized car ever made, I am an electrical genius, there is no electrical puzzle I can't troubleshoot and fix, and I can decode even the most odd messages from dumps of the computer's program" If that isn't you, then will have a very interesting time making it run anywhere near as good as a A9L with a good harness and good sensors.
Ford Racing and http://www.rjminjectiontech.com/ both make replacement or aftermarket FORD EFI harnesses at a very reasonable price. I suggest you look into them before jumping into a pile of computer wiring and spaghetti.
The cars just an absolute shell no wiring at all so i dont have to try to figure out if this wire goes to either my starter or my dizzy and yes i feel quite comfortable in wiring this car with the holley system which is this http://www.holley.com/550-604.asp and i also plan on grabbing this kit from painless for the chassis harness http://www.cjponyparts.com/painless...muscle-car-wiring-harness-18-circuit/p/20104/ so i feel this cant be to hard everythings open and i work on electrical control systems in hvac commercial business for building automation
Got it always a great help the holley system is plug and play with the exception of the tps needs to be repinned and i saw the rjm custom builds will they outright build me a harness
Not sure how much a holley efi system and a painless harness costs, but i'm going to assume it's alot.
Unless this is going to be a 9 second race car, I'm with jricker, just get the factory harness's and plug and play everything.
Shouldn't really cost too much and won't leave you in a "what the hell am i going to do?" position.
Other than the a9l and engine harness which is likely valued around $250 together, the rest should cost you nearly nothing.
Well i looked more at the rjm injection harness so im gonna call them about it because they clean up the harness with emissions and what not so i might go with it after all
