taking off the balancer on my motor on a stand wasnt too hard. I used a steering wheel puller.

But how about when the motor is in the car??? I just take the pulley off and use the steering wheel puller???? And put the new one in and then tighten the damper bolt??? What if the motor turns when i try and loosen and tighten it???

Is this how i should do it or am i totally wrong???

Can someone link me to a guide or someone tell me how to do it??

Less room but still the same. Since yours is an auto, you will need a tool to hold the balancer still if it tries to turn the motor. A pulley holder, looks like a big chain and pole. You could also have someone hold the engine still using a prybar on the flexplate.

Get a balancer puller and a balancer install tool. You can rent them at autozone and get a full refund after you return it. Have someone hold the brakes hard and put the car inn 5th gear. The balancer will loosen but you may need a breaker bar or put a pipe over the ratchet. Use a 1/2" drive.

For reinstall, clean the bolt threads and put a dab of oil or thread sealent on it so it wont seize up. I bought an arp balancer bolt for my car, but at $18, it isn't cheap.

WIth it on the car, I would use a HB puller and installation tool. This can all be done with the stock fan in place, etc.

Put the car in 5th gear with the E-brake on (assuming your rear wheels are planted) and it should not turn the motor over when you hit the crank bolt.

Good luck.

ok i am confused on how to keep it from turing, since i have an auto.
I have balancer off a 93 long block laying around, is there a way i can check it and see if its good or not.

The balancer only goes on one way right? So i just push it in and tighten the bolt???

balancer only goes on 1 way (keyway). Use the install tool. Then once its on all the way, put the bolt in and tighten it. Then torque it to around 90 ft/lbs. Put a little oil or thread sealent on like I said.

For removing it, try putting the car in D and have the Ebrake up and have someone hold the brakes for you.
