Motor is being built finally!! (PICS 56k=death)

so today my friend and i started putting the cobra motor back together. we were not able to finish as we are unable to get the main timing chains and new oil cooler from ford until tuesday. but we now have almost a full long block and that was the goal of today. machine shop that did all of the re-finishing says that this motor really is a 302 Stroker

now for the pic's!! i will just throw them up for now. i have lots of them

and the gauges i am putting in to keep a better eye on what is going on inside the beast. these will be occupying the slot below my headunit. i have a pioneer deck and the factory cd player is dong nothing. so instead of getting one of those little pockets i am putting these in that spot.

sorry about the long post and all the pictures but i am really excited to have my car back on the road and it has taken 2 long months to get to this point. i will be posting more pics as progress comes along, hopefully i will be driving my car next weekend!!

Yeah, the stock oil pump is the Achilies (sp?) of the Teksid engines :nonono:
The FRPP or billet ones are the right choice :nice: I have read many stories of boosted and built Cobras blowing up because of the stock oil pump. Damn gears are plastic, dumb Ford :fuss:

So I must have missed all the other stuff. Are you going forced induction? And what are the benefits of the FR500 over 03/04 Cobra heads?
Like the gauge spot too :nice:
My favorite gauge mount is the one like I have with the gauges by the cluster. Gives it a factory look

What power are you aiming for?

well.....i would be lying if i said i wouldnt be disappointed if i didnt make 03 cobra power.....but in reality im not sure its possible.

keep in mind the heads and intake are not ported. i just didnt have the money for it. or headers. headers are an easy thing (i would go for shorties, yes i know they dont make as much power, no im not putting more money into the exhaust.)

guess my power: im going to guess 370

Teksid Block, bored .20 over
VT forged stroker crank
FR500 Heads (not ported) w/04 cobra valvetrain
Diamond forged dished pistons
Eagle forged H-beams
10.5:1 compression ratio
stock exhaust manifolds:notnice:
2.5" full exhaust from headers back
bassani x-pipe (no cats)
flowmaster super 44's

i have an xcal2 for when i take it to get tuned. for a 93 octane tune

the stock oil pump gears are not plastic, they are metal. the ones i pictured are of the stock pump.

no im not going FI but i will be running higher compression. at some point in time i do want to run FI but that will be a long time down the road.

the advantage of the FR500 heads is the flow when compared to N/A aplications. cobra heads are better for FI. the cobra heads flow better than fr500 when they are ported, but if you port the fr500's they flow the most of any other 4.6 head. (b heads, c-heads, 03-04 cobra heads)

Thats cool as hell mang! My bad on the gears though, I thought I had read on here they were plastic. I DO know they always fail (well to often anyway) so that a billet pump is always a good upgrade when rebuilding :nice:
I believe you will make around 400 whith the right tune
Did you see the Telsid 5.0 N/A they built on Horse Power for Alterd E-Go? Pretty much everything you have only ported heads and that Hillborn style intake and they were making 491 hp N/A  With a stock style intake and no head porting I would bet you see 400+ hp :nice:
Also from all the DOHC stuff I have read over the years (I am OBSESSED with 4.6 DOHC) it seems the 96 Cobra cams are the second best cams for N/A power. Second only to the Sean Highland custom cams but they are $1000 cheaper :nice:
There are several stock displacment DOHC modulars making 390-430 hp on a Teksid block, 03/04 heads, 99/01 intake and 96 cams :nice:

Another question though. I thought the highest flowing heads were the 96-98 Cobra heads. That they can flow ALOT more then 99+ heads. The problem is they dont have as high of a port velocity as the latter heads

you know....maybe you are right..i cant remember anymore, some of those specs may have been drunken away:cheers:

all i know is that they are better than the 99-01 and 03-04 heads when all are stock and non-ported.

CobraRed_96_GT: no i am not spraying it at the moment. i know there is no need for forged internals at the moment, but that is how i got the car. at some point down the road i will probably do all of that. but now that the engine is underway...the next plan will be to beef up the IRS with better halfshafts and poly bushings. again...that wont happen for a while but its my next goal. that and headers

IRS and 4v? You do have a GT right? If so and you have done all that then :hail2: I take away almost every bad thing I will ever say to you :nice:
