Well I ordered the Rom Morris mounts today 225.00 plus shipping. I need to shift my engine 1.5 inches to the right so the header will clear the steering box. That's 150.00 dollars per inch.

I had to use them so my air cleaner would fit in the shelby hood.....I feel your pain, is the front end damaged and out of square?

that seems like a lot to move and not cause problems on the passenger side. any concerns about the u-joint angle, steering linkage, engine crossmember, radiator fan, etc?

I have a slight and I mean slight rub between a header tube and the steering box. I hope a half inch move to the right, passenger side, will solve the problem. I will keep you posted.

Front end is perfect. Just a slight header rub.

How far do you think you can shift an engine right or left before you cause driveline issues.

I would have put a cheap dent in the header to clear the box, sometimes you can heat the header pipe and bend it around a little

I used them mounts to lower my engine, now the air cleaner fits right in the scoop on the shelby hood, I also replace the whole front end on my car.View attachment 155381View attachment 155382

Bummer, those mounts will give you plenty of room to wiggle

you generally want your pinion angle equal and opposite of the engine angle. this is moving the engine at an angle that's not typical. you could probably calculate it or just measure the angles after install. i've never run the numbers to see if it's in the noise or if i could be a potential issue.

here is one area to watch out for (especially if using the drop mounts).

I would bend the poorly-made headers before I misaligned the engine. Steel tubing is a "plastic" material and the headers cold be bent 1/4" or more quite easily to solve your problem. Protect the header tube from the gearbox with thin plywood, pull hard into the geabox, then back the other way. You'll easily get 1/4" clearance this way, at "$0" per inch.

I am going to give the plywood a try 2+2 but I have my doubts that in my situation. I don't think there is room existing to make the shift to create the bend to create the clearence necessary. But I plan to try next week and I will let you know. Thanks or your input

I used a screw driver and a BFH and my headers moved. I've since pulled the motor and ground on the steering box.

I also had to change my oil pan, I had a big 7qt pan and it hit the cross member do to lowering the engine, Im now running a moldine 5qt oil pan, wish you luck and let us know if you run into any other issues once you get the mounts installed, I'm running JBA mid-length header and have plenty of room on both sides
