so i got my built motor in my garage, its been sitting for about a year, it has oil in it but should i raplace it? has not yet been started. or is it ok with the oil in it?
Change the oil first of all. Secondly, pull the distributor and fix the helical gear (usually a hex on Fords, and slots on Chevys) to an electric drill with an elongated shaft. Whichever direction your distributor rotates (opposite the engine rotation), run the drill that direction, and have someone watch your oil press gauge until it comes up to an acceptable pressure. Then you can go ahead and start it. Hope that helps. -Jordan
