My opinion is that gasoline is not an energy. , but gasoline is converted used in an engine to created energy, but gasoline is not an energy its a fuel.

electricity is already current and therefore a motor converts that energy into a moving motion.

gasoline is just a fuel, that when given to an engine creates an energy or motion

see what im saying.?

are you kidding? do you lose sleep over how the two words are used synonymously? it's not a big deal dude!

and gasoline is a form of chemical potential energy.... it's not a fuel!!!

I switch up the terms now and then, depending on the context. I can't see myself saying "engine mounts" instead of "motor mounts," or "Motor Coolant Temperature sensor" instead of "ENGINE Coolant Temperature sensor." So, I'll just be a nonconformist and refuse to subscribe to the usage of only one word.

Besides ... it's sort of like the difference between "either" (ee-thurr) and "either" (eye-thurr) - I use both forms, depending on the conversation and the context.

according to the first def anything that requires kinetic, thermal, electric, or any other outside power source is a motor.
any internal combustion device used to produce motion is an engine which brings me to the steam engine. it runs off steam that it makes in the boiler, but it requires thermal energy from an outside source to create said steam.

all in all my direct inject system is much better.

i can't believe i'm still involved in this thread! but that said, it's now hard to turn away.....

so a ball at the top of a hill, starting to roll down is considered a motor?????

Engine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
For other uses, see Engine (disambiguation).
An engine is something that produces some form of output from a given input. Military engines included siege engines, large catapults, trebuchets, battering rams, etc., so the first engineers were military engineers. Later came civil engineers, who designed and built roads, bridges, docks and buildings.

An engine whose purpose is to produce kinetic energy output from a fuel source is called a prime mover; alternatively, a motor is a device which produces kinetic energy from a preprocessed "fuel" (such as electricity, a flow of hydraulic fluid or compressed air).

A car has a starter motor, a windscreen wiper motor, windscreen washer motor, a fuel pump motor and motors to adjust the wing mirrors from within the car and a (motorised) radio antenna - but the power plant that propels the car is an engine. Again an aircraft will have many motors installed for operation of its many auxiliary operations and services, but aircraft are propelled by engines, in this case, jet engines.

no we haven't! i disagree with your opinion!
edit: wikipedia is whack! how can you use the word fuel in one context, put in quotations in the next sentence and have them be different?
on the other hand, where can i find new "prime mover" mounts? i think i need new ones

99% of the time no, but in the strictest sense if it were to use the energy that it gathered in it's motion down hill to power an object then yes it could be a motor.

I am done as I have mastered the laws of continous motion so the rest of this is moot.

Whats funny is.

Its a Motorcycle. Not Enginecycle

Its the Department of Motor Vehicals or Bureau Of Motor Vehicals not of Engine vehicals.

As wikipedia stated. Motor can refer to engine. Its a household term.

I call it a motor mount. Thats what my grandaddy called it, my uncles all call it, and that is what 90% of mechanics call it.

Even summit racing calls em motor mounts. Does it really matter?

For those who will doubt me and go look it up heres a link

Yeah I was gonna try that but I just put in my new O-pipe and thought it might conflict. Besides I just ordered 2 boost bars
