Motorcraft FL1 HP?

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has a source for these at a good price?

I have looked on the internet and am having no luck for them, are they discontinued or what?

i always get them at Advance auto parts.

What is the "HP" for? I don't have any trouble finding the FL-1A. I can't always find them in Motorcraft brand, though. (esp at AutoZone....I hate that place)

purolator also makes an HP oil filter as well.

I don't know if it is different internally, but the metal case is much thicker, I guess for higher pressure oil pumps.

it is different internally. it has more filter media and a different by pass valve

They are not available in my area any place like wally world or auto zone or whatever.

If i go to an auto part store they quote me 14 and higher with a special order.

Try a Ford dealership parts department.

If they are charging too much then buy a K&N Filter instead for less at Summit.

I sure hope you get something better than that FL-300 for $13!

FL-300 is the short version of the FL-1A. It is used in special service Mustangs and turbo 2.3s becuase the oil cooler fits under the filter and reduces clearance. I can get those for less than $5 at most any parts store.

I WONT BUY FRAM GARBAGE!!!
I always used Fram for years till I bought one of these HP filters,
it leaked at the seam all over my stang, so I took it back to ADVANCE auto parts and got another one, IT LEAKED ALSO, I got suckerd in to getting another, guess what, yep leaked at the seam, went back RAMPING @ RAVING and got my money back. JUNK FORIN CRAP

I use wix filters more then frams but cheaper then teh "HP" filters and has more element.

I want my stang to have the ford filter on it mainly for looks, kinda like the battery is motorcraft as well.

Seen to many nice cars ruined by using the wrong battery or oil filter at car shows.

If they didn't cost so much, I'd get the concours-style Rotunda or Autolite FL-1 filters from NPD. $30 each though....

like the man says, you can pay me now or you can pay me later. don't cheap out on oil filters that's a good way to ruin an engine.

In that case I guess it's lucky I get my FL-1As for $3.99! I'll pay later....like after 150k miles.
