These are the kinds of posts that can wreck a thread like this.

The way I understand it, this is a nomination thread. Save your votes for the voting thread. They're just noise in here. Self control is often the hardest thing to come by.

oooohhh while that does make sense....if once a persons name is brought up, nobody else should say it is what it appears you are stating....then I forsee a problem like 20 cars being nominated....

if, say, 25th gets a few "yesses" along with others then it would be easier to know which "select" cars to nominate in the official poll....versus many many single nominations

does that make sense, or am I still missing something??

it would thus be easier to pick like the top 5 or 10 even if 23 get "nominated" which is sorta what we did before if im not mistaken

There... new thread so that this discussion can continue without wrecking the other.

If you'd READ the other thread about reviving FOTM, you'd see that one of the ground rules was that ANYONE could nominate ANYONE. In other words, there doesn't need to be 100 monkees coming out of the woodwork with posts like:

+1
+25
Me Too!
blah blah blah

What use are they? What YOU are suggesting is basically 2 votes. What's the sense in that? You want everyone to vote to see who makes the vote?

Any car nominated makes the poll, then you choose...

My opinion!

Yep.. that's what I thought nominations were for!

I've still not seen anyone post the criteria for a nomination though. It lookes like they jumped right to a test thread with no rules or requirements in it.

Like what, how much information is needed? How many pics and such. I think a few pics and the persons screen name is really all thats needed to be nominated. Then after the grace period go to a poll to choose a winner?

ok i get it now

i apologize....

just to note i do not like 'the tone' you are explaining things by but i understand.

i just thought it would be a cumulative approach on nominations.... for the record i am dumb about completely reading, though in all honesty i read the first post of the thread twice lol...

I think that you should require a 2nd or even 3rd person to nominate someone... just to filter down the voting list. I.E.

I nominate 25th

I second that.

25th is nominated, no more need to post.

AEither way works for me, but the I second it thing adds more to it. Can someone who nominated a car then second another one? How many cars can you second etc... I say nominate, and thats that. Provide a couple pics (not too many) and the screen name and that should be enough right?

These contest are going to be hard... It's not like "Player of Week" for the NFL where you have stats that aren't static and change every month/week. What's to stop someone from winning every month or all of the time?

I say break it down by categories, but that is just me...

Once you win, your done for the year is how I think it's going to be? Also what are the rules on cars that you now don't own? I would vote bottlefed but he doesn't have the car anymore, can he still be nominated?

No if you don't have the car anymore then you can't be nominated. And once you win you can't be nominated but your in the running for stang of the year.

See... the trouble with doing these kinds of things is having to keep track of it all. Sure, the first couple are going to be a rough road with a lot of nominations.

Having a nomination though, then someone to give a second, third, etc. just makes the whole thing a PITA to keep track of. Categories... OMG, the number of implications and threads just boggles the mind.

There are just too many folks in 5oh to constantly split a FOTM in pieces and parts. While some are regulars, many are only on occationally. My hope is that once folks see the caliber of the cars that are being nominated that this will cut down on the sheer number of nominees.

I for instance, wouldn't nominate a car like mine against those first few that I've seen in the test thread.

Done correctly, we should only see two threads running on this issue per month. The one that nominations are made in and the one that the voting is done in.

Split the categories up like they do at cars shows. IMO, there are some great looking stock Fox bodies in here, but they don't stand a chance against some of the cars already mentioned. So I guess the key is that if you want to win FOTM, you have to have a modded car, or at least something that looks better than stock... with the exception of the Cobra.

I guess you won't please everyone.
