Hello All, when I bought my 89 GT an aftermarket shifter had been installed and moved to the location of the ashtray leaving the original shifter location wide open.

Does anyone know of a company that may make an item to cover this location that would look stock? If not I am going to have a piece of sheet metal cut to fit the spot and make it into a custom switch panel with the grill pony from my old 98 stang glued to the bottom.

Please respond with anything you may know. Thank You.

Get a piece of plastic or plexiglass. Cut to fit, then paint to match!!

That is probably what I am gonna do is use some aluminum or sheet metal and paint either gloss black or gloss red to match the interior. I want to see if anyone makes a part first so I can see what it looks like.

If you felt like, you could make a slopeing contoured assembly that molds into the radio area (it would house the radio and stuff too). THat could look pretty sweet.

That is what my friend did with his 9 sec 89 LX but he made the whole thing his guage cluster and switch panel. Looks really sweet.
