Hi all,

I have EXTENSIVELY searched this topic and have only succeeded in making it even harder to make up my mind. I have a 04 GT. I put the steeda catback on last spring. I am very happy with it now that it has broken in. On some days, I do wish it was a bit deeper and / or louder, but most of the time I am satisfied. I was not looking for obnoxiously loud or "droney".
I had / have been tossing around the idea of changing the mid pipe to a catted hi flow. Off road is NOT an option b/c of emissions and NO desire to have to switch.

I wanted an H so therefore began and ended with MRT. I have spoken to a couple of different people as well as read some posts on here and other sites and have heard of issues with fit as well as the cats not passing emissions.

I then tossed around the idea of a catted X but really like the H sound so don't think I want to go that route. I know that MRT is the only choice, so I am looking for anyone who has passed emissions with it (preferably more than once or when the pipe was older vs new) and / or any other possible options I may have missed. I don't know if it is worth that amount of money for the change in sound I will receive or if I should just leave well enough alone and use the cash elsewhere.

Thanks

I had an MRT catted H before I switched over to LT's. The quality was top notch, fitment was great, & the sound was awesome too. As far as passing smog, it should pass, although high flow cats don't last as long as stock cats. FYI, my car passed smog with LT headers, & super crappy catco high flows, so I know an MRT should pass being that it comes with high quality Magnaflow cats.

I just had emissions in California and it is a pain in the you know what. I have a full SLP System with X pipe and all I swap my cats in and out depending on what sound I want that week or so. One way to pass emissions is to put your cats in and clear the computer of any tune or changes made recently then get it tested. When it is tested nothing will register with the computer and comeback ok. Some places do visual test of the car so its advised don’t go to a franchise or corporate place like AAA, Pep Boys ect.
