MSD 6AL Ignition, Anyone have it??

I'd have a hard time believing the words .............
big difference for a NA combo.
Noticeable difference may even be expecting too much.
The stock ignition does a pretty good job and will take you to 300rwhp or better if we're talking about NA combos.

I have a MSD 6AL in my GTO, I know they help produce a cleaner burn, but I really didn't feel a big difference. Maybe 5-10 hp. The rev limiter is nice though.
Its really not going to be a noticeable difference unless he replaced a bunch of other ignition components on the car at once that may have been corroded. That was the case with me and my car ended up pulling much harder up top because of it. The 6AL doesnt really add power, it more utilizes the power the car already has better. Up at high rpm's where the car is sparking hard, you will see a difference. My car used to fall flat on its face above 4500rpm and after i installed the 6AL and a couple of other ignition parts like MSD coil, cap and rotor, new plugs, and 9mm wires, the car pulled much much harder up top.
Like Grady said, the stock ignition will do fine for around 300-350whp, but it will help some non-the-less. You will see a HUGE difference on power if you added a 6AL to say a nitrous motor or a car running boost.
I say if you can find the box cheap, get it. It really does help out the top end. I wouldn't buy one new: $230 AND you have to buy the rev limiter chips AND the harness for like $30 to hook it up to your existing ignition system. There are good deals roaming around if you look. For example i found my 6AL brand new with a 6Krpm pill and the harness all for $150 shipped on ebay. Check around.

Yeah I have the 6al and I do like the limiter - it works believe me. As far as hp I don't know because I have no before and after data. 
But I can say it provides lots of spark - tested with ignition wire disconnected.

i felt a noticable diffrence, it pulled a lot harder at higher rpms, and my fuel economy is a bit better. and all i have is the box every thing else is stock

Not running one yet... I have the MSD coil, cap, and rotor right now. When I go on the bottle in the spring I'll be installing a 6AL along with it. Research indicates that its a must for any power adder car as said above.

with all the other upgrades we make to our cars, the 600 bucks spent on upgrading everything in the ignition is a small price 2 pay. for 600 u can get am msd 6al, msd cap and rotor, msd tfi coil, msd distibutor, dynamod ignition module, and some good plugs and be assured that the ignitin is up to the task.

If your GTO is carburated, then I completely believe it. At low RPM (the only time that the MSD box actually outputs more sparks), they can really help a carburated vehicle that has relatively poor fuel metering.Cobra4075 said:

The're gonna take that 600 bux and get total control of their tune and say
HEY! ... the stock ignition works just fine for my little ole, mild mannered, Clark Kent combo.
A good tune will make a "big & noticeable" difference.
