Ok question is I have a msd 6 and msd coil, I am planning on runnint the msd billet #8456. Is there a substantial increase in performance over the oem
unit and does it warrant the price??

Though it is really nice to keep things uniform, I do not believe it is really worth the price. I have one on my 70 mustang because I wanted to change from points but with the 5.0 HOs, I wouldn't bother and I have the same setup as you on my 5.0. You are better off putting the 250 bucks elseware and get more power like roller rockers, underdrive pullies, headers or something if you are looking for more efficiency. The MSD distributor is probably the last thing I recommend changing if your stock one is working fine.

Definitly agree. I bought one from summit a couple of months ago. Didn't install it untill last mo. Not even 100 miles on it due to the weather. I had it out last Sat. and drove up to the local speed shop. When I came out, crank but no start. The ignition module went out. I put my old dist. back in and sent the MSD back to summit for a refund. I'm sure I just got a defective unit but it shouldn't have crapped out that fast. And yea, is did look pretty.
