I had an MSD distributor. It lasted about 100 miles and blew the ignition module. Broke down in front of the speed shop I deal with. (How embarasing). I put the stock unit back in and sent the MSD back to Summit for a refund. I actually think it runs better with the stock unit. I'm sure I just was unlucky to get a defect but I feel like it shouldn't have quit so soon. Save your money and keep the stock one. Not as pretty but who cares.
yeah, I used the MSD thinking it was the great deal too. but it's really no improvement over stock. The numbers show no difference anyway, so go with the most cost effective one.
I went with the Performance Distributors TFI, Screem'n Demon coil and distributor cap/rotor and am using FMS 9mm plug wires, Autolite APP3924 double platinum plugs gapped to 0.06". It smoothed out my idle and improved the whole rpm range.
