MSD-Small Base Distributor

I want to put a monte carlo bar on my '67 without the distributor getting in the way. MSD makes this small base distributor that is 1 inch shorter and with a smaller diameter. Seems like the best fix since I was changing the distributor anyways and the cap is black(which I like).

Am I losing anything in performance by going with this small base. According to the description in summit catalog "performance is not sacrificed."
If not why wouldn't all of MSD's distributors be small?

Spark scatter is more prone to happen with the smaller dizzy. Unless you have a high performance build I doubt you will have an issue like that.

Well I have a 302 that makes 385 HP at the fly. Do you think this small base pro-billet dizzy is fine?

I thought curved bars cleared most distributors, so height wouldn't be an issue.

If it's a straight bar, it would have to clear to top of the distributor and diameter wouldn't be an issue.

Anyone with a straight Monte Carlo bar with a MSD? (I'm getting one soon too and already have a MSD ready to run).

Or do we have to get a curved one?

You're right, a curved monte carlo bar will go around the dizzy regardless of the size, But when the bar starts to bend to go around it, it bumps into the a/c compressor. So if you don't have a/c the curved bar is the way to go.

the larger dizzy is also pretty tall and could also have issues sitting under a 14" air cleaner so be warned.

Having this issue with my friends Cougar. We put the regular MSD distributor in with a 14" drop air cleaning and now I'm having to do a lot of cuting to the air cleaner and I'll provably end up siliconing the bottem.

I use an air cleaner with a offset and drop base.(From Summit). Plenty of room for a straight bar.

Damn, that would be way easier.... PAW didn't sell a drop base with an offset for a 4bbl, only for a 2bbl.

Neutral safety switch

I removed the old tranny from my 65. Put in one thats more modern, but also a C-4. Pretty sure the wire for the neutral safety switch wont plug back in the newer tranny. Any easy ways around this problem? I`m running an MSD 6AL ignition, as long as it has power when the key is on, is this gonna work right?
