Yeah, I think I was like 1200 below MSRP once I got done with all of the paper work. The big benifit of ordering through the military overseas is you get exactly what you want. Also right now Mustangs are hot and GT's are few and far between on the lots, so getting a good deal (anything more than 1K below MSPR) is probably impossible. Some guys may have, but did they get the exact car they dreamed of?

I got my GT for $25,147 on d-plan. MSRP was $28,197. I was lucky enough to find a dealer to honor my plan. If you live in the Tidewater VA area, go to Kimnach Ford and see John Clark. He helped me and put up with a lot of BS when my order got pushed back. The dealer was great and was very honest.

As stated in another thread, it's simply supply and demand.

First of all, the "GT" model usually makes up about 30% or so of all Mustangs for a model year. The 05 supposedly only had 12% of models be GTs. All the hype of the car before production, means that most dealers were taking orders before the cars were even being made. Then Ford made the decision to "allocate" a certain number of GTs to each dealer, just like SVT vehicles. Some dealers got as little and 3-4 GTs for the year. The demand for the car is so high, that dealers marked them up, just like any hot seller. If the public will pay it, they will charge it. And why should they sell you a car on plan, when the next guy will pay full price or MORE? Notice how the price of rock salt and snowblowers go up in the middle of a blizzard? Same thing. You can't blame them, it's just business.

Now the V6 isn't as "hot", so they are still on the lots, and you can get one for a good price. Each dealer in my area has 6-7 V6s on the lot, in converts and coupes. You could probably get a V6 for a good deal, or even on a plan.
