i know this is probably a dumb question, but can you use an mtx 801d amp with a kicker sub or any other brand besides mtx? i was wondering because in the troubleshooting section of the mtx amp's manual, it says the reason a sub distorts is because its not mtx brand.
I love it when they do that! Pretty much all brands say that and it really isn't true...you can use any sub with any amp...given that the impedence is compatible between the sub and the amp...
That being said, I am a huge fan of keeping your parts all uniform (as you can see from my sig). The fact of the matter is that speaker manufacturers engineer their stuff to work with their amps. This doesn't mean that it is necessarily better, it just meant that it was built to work together. Oh, yeah, and I get my Alpine stuff for almost nothing...Except for their F#1 Status stuff which is what I really want
