MUFFLER INSTALL QUESTION...

WHAT SHOULD BE THE PLAY BETWEEN THE MUFFLER OUTLET O.D AND THE TAILL PIPE I.D... I GOT SOME SUMMIT MUFFLER AND DYNOMAX STAINLESS TAIL PIPES... THEY MATE WELL TOGETER..BUT I GOT LIKE 1/8 " OF PLAY....IS THAT OK? WHEN I CLAMP IT DOWN WILL THAT BE OK? NEVER DID EXHAUST BE4.... I ORDERED BOTH SPECIFIED AT 2 1/2

sounds fine, they should slip into eachother and the clamps will tighten thinks up alot. If it was a kit it should be a perpect fit with a little play in them.

I've seen some guys doing exhaust and the go to expand a pipe and go way to far with it and they still sealed up but with 2 clamps....Needless to say I don't do there for exhaust work anymore. I know a guy (actually a pretty good friend of mine) that ownes his own shop and he is Know'n for his perfectionist <--spelling work on exhaust he will make it perpect and it may take a little longer but the end results are amazing...You get what you pay for. If anyone lives in Ontario and need some exhaust work done I can give you his name and number.
