Im on a kinda cheap budget and was told that i could get dual flowmasters for about $250-300 by the prev. owners son. is this a good deal or should i look for something else and what would i look for? any help appreceated.

flows definately dont blow. or maybe they do blow well. but they are the original chambered exhaust. now everyone has copied there technology. its all about preference. but if u go with old school 2 chamber ones like i did, be ready for some loud noise. wow, i cant even here myself think in my car. the new super 40 mufflers are quieter on the inside though, or a 50 series is much quieter. u have to decide on how loud and what kind of sound u like. personally i think dynomax mufflers are too quiet and sound like &*^%, but that is also just my opinion. i have no experience with the new dynomax mufflers. there are a million choices, but imo u cant go wrong with flowmasters. then all u need to decide is whether or not u want tailpipes. look on ebay, i got both mufflers brand new for 90 dollars shipped. then take them to a shop and have them welded in

As much fun as it sounds ill have to pass on the strait headers, ppl in this town dont like my fam. as it is, ill get the cops called on me in an instant, anyway i beleave the guy said it was the full pipes and all, (the guys my ex g/f's cuz and the prev owners son) im gonna try to get a hold of him and talk to him about it, any ideas on performance boosts this would have vs stock single exhaust?

yeah thats the way it goes tho, the stuff gets popular, everyone gets it and then most every one gets rid, like these old stangs, there were so many of them that they just started destroying them and now there arnt many left. i personally dont like any of the systems that make a car (or truck) sould like a ricer, i hate those things (id only drive one if it got good mileage)

i've got dynomax super turbos....not too impressed. they are just loud enough to remind you that there is something going on out back..
i'm curious about the Spintech and Magnaflows.....i want the old 302 to rattle some windows (not mine - the neighbors). any thoughts?......and no, i'm not looking for a rice substitute.....

It used to be glasspack on all the redneck trucks now its flows. I personally like spintechs.
EXACTLY, I wasn't knocking the performance of the Flowmasters (although magnas beat masters in every test I've seen), it is the characteristic sound that I hear EVERYWHERE. I hear them on Buicks and Neons in addition to nearly every CK pickup on the street.

Cherry bombs would probably rattle some windows  lol. seriously my 2 chamber flows are very loud. i got the ones before they came out with the delta flows. almost nothing in them. its so loud with the longtube headers that when i stop at a red light its hard to see out of the rearview mirror because its vibrating so much. it might actually be too loud to really enjoy. im sure there are many good mufflers out there, but ive always felt safe with flowmasters. u know what they are gonna sound like. its a patented sound. i dont have the money or time to try out 5 different kinds of mufflers. my 89 saleen had dynomax turbo mufflers on it when i bought it and it sounded completely factory = QUIET! ive heard some cars with mac flowpaths and they sounded real good, but very similar to flowmasters, a similar chambered design. basically a turbo (fiberglass tube muffler) is gonna sound quiet and ricey imo, a chambered muffler will give you the deep metal performance sound. but this is just from my experience. there is alot more involved, i.e. cam, headers or not, size of exhaust pipe, and intake/carb setup. they all make very big differences in how the muffler will sound. with factory stock manifolds i dont think you are really able to take advantage of the true sound of a small block v8

ok now dont laugh at me cause i didnt do it, but for some odd reason i really really love the way they sound.....the ravens from midas..... :D. Now you can take my word for it, those suckers have a badass rumble to em..... :nice: If you trying to tell me about vibrating mirrors and stuff just falling apart from the noise, you need to take a ride in my car.....lol. Personally i never ever wouldve went to midas....haha....that was the po's decision, and to be honest every time he fired it up (my neighbor) i always thought they were just magnaflows with a bunch of holes in the pipes.....haha :rlaugh: But whatever, thats just my two cents, personally ive always loved magnaflows by the way....nothing better in my opinion.....other than midas of course....lol

I have magnaflows with turn-downs. Good stuff.

Those four factory cats might have something to do with that. My '86 has 2 chamber flowmasters and it's quiet. When my '67 had 2 chambers I had a migraine after every drive.
