I went to try to find out why my dash speakers did'nt work. I pulled the radio but I couldnt find the wires that came from the dash speakers. It looked like they went into the door jam. Does anyone know if they are some how connected to the front door speakers and thats why they go into the door jam or what?

Please help im confused?

Some stock setups did not use the dash speakers. The premiums systems did. If you have upgraded and want to add them just run them off of the door speaker channel. Is your system stock or aftermarket?

The premium sound system in most GT's used an external amplifier. Some years it was located behind the radio, others it was under the passenger seat. All the speaker wires terminate at the amplfier, where ever it is on your car. The amplifer in my car is a metal box about 7" wide, 5" long and 1.5" high with a finned heat sink on the sides.

Thanks for the response. My system is completely aftermarket. Now if i saw the wires coming thru the door jam then it probaly goes by the door speaker and if the wires are there i just have to take the dash speaker connections and splice door speaker wire and add the dash speaker wire in right?

I would reccomend you get a good 5.25 component set, put the drivers in the doors, mount the crossovers behind the kickpanels, and put the tweeters in the stock 3.5" locations. You will have to build a mounting plate for the using some ABS plastic, but it is a simple install, and the factory dash locations are perfect for placement of the tweeters.

I just replaced the speakers in my car and the guy before had it wired like this: The wires leave the CD player and go to the doors. On the way there, he cut into the wires and added wires going to the dash. I'm not sure if this is the best way and the guy at Crutchfield acted like this could cause a problem/strain on the CD player. We'll see.

RBRANDX has the right idea. A nice set of components is going to be your best choice. Might take a little bit of time and work if you have never done it before, but it will be worth it in the end.

If you do end up just putting replacement 3.5" in the dash, you are going to want to make sure you get a set of bass blockers to throw in the lines. Otherwise they may sound a little muddled.

Yeah the guy at Crutchfield was right, this is not the correct way to do it. Your deck is equipped to handle a 4 ohm load, by wiring 2 4ohm speakers in paralell, you are creating a 2 ohm load which will put excessive strain on the internal amplifier in your deck. It could be done, but to do it correctly you would need 2 8ohm speakers that way when you wired them in paralell you would be creating a 4ohm load, which is what your radio is equipped to handle.

Well i took off the speaker grill and i was loooking for my dash speaker wire back there and all i see is the wire for the speaker itself?

i need help with this. I got aftermarket rockford fosgate dash speakers and i can't even use them cause i dont know where the wires go to?
