Ive been searching for a turbo or supercharger kit for my GT but Ive heard people say that the 4.6 GT engine isnt strong enough to handle either, but the cobra can because its equipped with the iron block.... can anyone let me know anything about that....
 
They both have an iron block (actually, pre 03-04, cobras had an aluminum block that was stronger). But regardless, ignore your friends.

Plenty of supercharger kits avail for mustangs, 400 hp is about all you can squeeze out of a pi engine before the rods waive bye bye to the block.
 
Its a 1999 and I actually jsut threw a rod and replaced the engine, before it had to many miles on it to super or turbo charge but since its new now i figured i could do either, do you happen to know how much boost you can run on it without changing anything within the engine?
 
Boost is relative to the blower. You could pull say (for example only, not actual numbers) 10 pis on a procharger p-1 while if you did that on a more efficient blower like an F-1 you may be flirting with disaster.

But to answer your question, most tuner kits run up to 12 psi or so (centrifical blower, not sure on the roots/twin screw guys) with a safe tune and it puts them around 400ish rwhp.

Basically you need to decide which style you like better. They both have ups and downs. Roots is great for the street as you get almost instant boost while centi's come on in the upper rpms (more drag strip oriented).
