First off.... Hello...

I would like to get some information on my Mustang. Im not exactly sure what year it is. Its titled as a '70 but was built in November of '69.

To start off.. I bought this car almost exactly 30 years ago to this day and have owned it ever since. When I bought it, the car was described as, titled as follows:

1970 Mustang Coupe Grande. Orange in color with a Black Vinyl Roof.
Drive train consisted of a basic 2 barrel 302 with a C4 Trans.

The body on the car needed some work at the time and being your normal dumbass 17 year old, I decided to strip all the paint from the car and get it repainted. Well, that never happened.(the repainted part) To make a long story short(er) I am wondering about a few things.

The car is titled as a 1970 Mustang. The front end and interior is all 1970. The hood has the fiberglass hood scoop with the turn signals built in. If it matters, the holes in the hood for which the scoop is attached looks as if they were burned in with a torch. As do the Hood Pin Latches.

But.. And this is where it gets interesting....The whole rear end is 1969.

Im talking it has the fake air intakes in the rear quarters and the 1969 bowed in rear end with the 69 tail lights.

Now, I stripped this car from its paint 30 years ago. And I can tell you that it was the original paint and the original quarter panels. Everything from the factory spot welds to the factory lead work was there. I am 100 % Positive that this car never had its rear replaced.

So now I ask you, what do I have here?

Enter your vin here.. You should find the plate on the door jam of the driver side door. Also there should be a metal tab in between the dash and the windshield, visible from the outside looking just a few inches from the a=pillar.

My guess would be that maybe it was rear ended and someone used parts from another car to repair it.

Do you have any pictures? Just curious.

I saw a 65 convertible once, the back half was a C code, the front half was a K code. Interesting repair.

All classic Mustang production for the new model year usually started in September after the August re-tool. so a November build date would be normal, and would correspond to a low serial number. Now, as a counter, my 1968 Mustang had an August 68 Build date and a very high serial number.

So, best thing is to decode your serial number and compare it to your build date.

for 1970, it does have the key in the column, yes?
Serial number starts with "0"
