Mustang Plus Carpet Kit Is Junk!

Thank you for your post Ron, I can understand you frustration, hopefully the kid will call you to get the problem resolved, I would like to know how this turns out. Christmas 2004 was only a couple of months ago, it's not like it was Christmas 2003.

I bought a MSD from Summit in '92, didn't get around to installing it until '00. Smoked it and I know we wired it right. World Ford Challenge in '00 I spoke to a guy that works at MSD, he saiy send it in, most likely it'll cost $35 to fix. I paid to ship it down in '01, they fixed it and shipped it back for free. :nice: :flag: :hail2:

Also, I know it would be hard, but please come back a post more. We'd like to think we're the pulse of the Mustang community here. BTW, have you checked out SN65's project on the sticky at the top of the page? Pretty wild stuff.

ron i am really impressed that you took the time to respond and rebut in detail the issues of this thread. i have only bought a couple of small items from your company and they arrived quickly with no problems. and since you are following this thread i want you to step up the production/availability of parts for the '71-'73 mustang. :)

you have to admire a business owner who is willing to lay it on the line like ron did. he speaks the truth on everything he said. i have been the person people call to order items in a catalog, and i can tell you that it can be a fun job, but when you get customers who ordered one thing, thought they ordered something else, but really wanted a completely different item, and are adamant about what they ordered, you cant win regardless of what you say or do. also this deal of listening in on phone calls, it can be a good thing as a training tool, but some supervisors berate the employee in question for every little mistake made, and that causes problems as well.

as far as prices go, that is what shopping is for, if all you really care about is price. yes you can find the same items at different suppliers for less, but when you check different items, they cost more. like ron said, business has to be stable for it to work, and there are many hidden costs that the average person doesnt see that the business does. costs like enivronmental regulation, safety regulation, price increases, fuel costs, union costs(for union shops), government fees, taxes, etc, etc etc. all these costs are passed on to the consumer, otherwise the business would go out of business in short order because they would make no money, and the business would not be sustainable. if you want to see lower prices, get the government to reduce the amount of regulations that are imposed on business that drive costs up.

i have bought items from a number of mustang suppliers, including mustangs plus, and i have yet to find a supplier that i would not buy from again.

ron you still have me as a customer, when i have money to spend :D:D

Thanks for the follow up Ron!
I don't shop on price but on quality. I would rather pay $300 for a good quality part and replace it once vs. $150 on a part with a "lifetime" guarantee that you have to replace every year. I would like to see the manufacture listed for each part and the country of origin in your catalog and web site. I find myself calling around not for price but for who has the best quality parts I'm looking for.

Bravo Ron!
Like I mentioned before in a previous post, I don't buy all my parts from Mustangs Plus. But I will tell you the kind of part that I do buy from them no matter the cost. It's always the inventive stuff. What I mean by that is I have know for a while that Mustangs Plus has been a large contributor to the Mustang hobby and have always brought new a cool parts that really work to us fellow Mustangers. Things like, negitive wedge kits. I know they might not have invented them but because of Mustangs Plus' own classic "race stangs" I know that because they use them on their cars both street and track I know that I won't have a problem with them on my car. I think it is things like that and the MP R&D shop that make me feel very secure about the quality of part I am getting from them.
I think Ron put it very well, he doesn't expect to sell us all parts but he does want us all who order from him to have a good experience dealing with his company. I applaud what MP does from the industry and how they have done business with me.

Ron, if it is possible, I am another person which would love to see further posts by you or someone at your company. Maybe even Mustangs Plus having their own little section in the forums where you all could write up new happenings or answers to common repair/restoration questions. I know it's another adding cost so I'm not expecting it at all but maybe it would be great advertising similar to your articles in Mustangs and Fords.
One last thing Ron, maybe the customer service issue would be better answered with a post card included in each order where the customer could send in remarks about their order experience. Knowing that most people won't use said cards that will keep costs of mailing down to most of the people whom need to be contacted by a customer service Rep.
Just a thought?

Ron, Thanks again for taking time out of your busy schedule! From one business owner to another...I know how difficult that can be.

my girlfriend purchase a 67 carpet kit for me from MUSTANG PLUS for Christmas 2004. with shipping, this P-O-S was $120.00 :nonono:

i finally have time to put in the interior over last weekend and...

the carpet is 4" short on EACH SIDE to the door sill plates (2" ON THE FLOOR AND 2" TO THE DOOR SILL PLATE) , and 3 inches from tucking up in the front. the center where they over lap, only overlaped 1/2" and the carpet mold wasn't even close to being in the correct location

will not return due to the length of time i had it...and if they did i would have to pay shipping there and back again for the new product :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

don't let this happen to you! :fuss:

i feel bad that my girlfriend was nice enough to get me a gift for the stang and all she did was get screwed and see me get pissed off :nonono:

after reading all these post i'm really upset that the only thing that mostly everone heard is that the prices were to high or mustang plus as a whole is horrible.

the whole reason i posted this is to make sure that other stangnet people weren't going to be in the same situation as i was. i never said anything about the price being to high or there business being crap! yeas i did ssay it was $120 and it is junk, but what part of that isn't true? i have bought many things from mustang plus before including all of my fiberglass which wasn't that great and i spent approx $1400 total-but did i get upset at that... no, because i understang that fiberglass is hard to work with and that it is hard to mold the same way everytime. this in particular really upset me because my girlfriend is the one who bought it for me and she was let down by them. i had to see her get upset which made me even more upset.

i'm a customer service rep for a flooring company here in San Diego, do you think when i get home from work or on my weekend i want to deal with this type of thing. Yes, i do understand that in some cases you do have to speak with a manager or a managers- manager but it shouldn't be neccesary?

i really can't believe that people attack me here calling me a kid when they have no idea of my age but yet assume that i'm young and stupid. i have had my mustang for 10 years and when i buy something for i expect to get what i pay for and expect to get the customer service i deserve as a customer, especially when ordering from a bigger business.

thanks Ron for posting

any other flames please direct the to my PM box so i can get them directly.

Well I've read page one and it seems to be pretty negative. That said, I've spent a pretty substantial amount of money with these guys and have uniformly gotten pretty good service and quality parts.

I absolutely recognize that some of their prices are higher, and I have happily paid them for peace of mind and good (not great) customer service.

Long and short of it is that these guys fill a bazillion orders per week and some of them are going to be messed up with a capital F. Nature of the beast.

I'd give them another chance.

12sec67, I don't think anyone meant to flame you personally, but if they did I certainly didn't and apologize if I did or said anyting which made you feel like I was. :( Nor, did I assume that you were a kid.
But check it out dude, you are now talking directly to the owner of Mustangs Plus, he asked you to contact HIM, not a Rep or a Phone jokey, Him personally and he supplied his cell phone number. Are you totally stoked or what? I am thinking that Ron is going to hook you up with a new carpet kit and try to make you a really happy customer.
Do us all a favor and come back and post a new thread telling us what happened and how this problem was cleared up if at all. I wish you the best of luck and get us some pictures of that 12 second ride!

I recently got my Mustangs Plus catalog in the mail and was AMAZED at the amount of not only parts, but actual INFORMATION;, tech articles, how-tos, actual install pics. This shows me a company that not only knows what they are doing, but is actually willing to give that information to a customer. That is definitely a (mustangs) "plus" in my book, especially being a nOOb to restoring mustangs :nice:

Thanks for posting, Ron. Hope to see you back here again. Pop into www.1969stangs.com sometime. I'm sure they would have some questions for you too :D

Okay, I suck, I'm :owned: I'm sorry if I offended you.

You're not a kid, you're 1 month and 2 days younger than me.

But I didn't mean the 'kid' as a dig necessarily. Sorta meant it like 'dude' (but then, knowing my luck, you would have turned out to be a chick, and I guess if you had a girlfriend... well, I won't go there, but it would have been an even more serious faux pas....)

I just hope Ron makes it right for you and I'd like to find out what the carpet fit, or how it was mis manufactured.

OK, StangNeters. Ron Bramlett from Mustangs Plus here again. Hopefully, the carpet problem will be solved. 12sec67 called me and we're going to get to the bottom of the problem. He says his cousin has the same problem and we're going to take care of him, too. Stay tuned.

Now, the other reason why I'm posting again. We're planning the next Mustangs Plus Parts Catalog which will be printed and released in January 2006. Also, we're planning the next three issues of Restomod Daze, the bi-monthly magazine that Mustangs Plus sends out to our prefered customers. And, we have the show progarm for the Restomods In Reno show, www.restomodshows.com. Now I'm asking for your imput. What "How To" projects would you like to see us do and include in these future publications? Please talk about it and give us some ideas. Thanks!

TKO done right in a 67/68 with no cutting the floor “ I know where you can get the car” :D . Something with step by step and lots of picture.

Ron, great to see you post here. I too have bought from you with nothing but great results, but since you bring up the catalogs I have to chime in with a complaint. I find the catalogs a bit unorganized, I love the color photos and the tech stuff but It drives me banannas that you list the same stuff multiple times all through the catalog, often its confusing and I find myself going back and forth comparing. I certainly think it would be more cost effective for you and easier to follow for us if you kept it in a simple catagory format. I do however love restomod daze, with the exception that much of the content is repeated from one issue to the next, Keep 'em coming.

Hi Ron.

Are you the guy that had the series about buying a Cobra and then couldn't get it into California? If so, I want you to know I really enjoyed reading about that. Even though it was probably a HORRIBLE experience (and you made that clear in the series) you still made it fun to read.

What happened to that car?

Getting back to the longwinded subject of this thread...

I've been working on my '72 Mustang since 1997. In that time, I've bought parts from lots of places. If I were to try and put them in order, it would be:

1. eBay
2. eBay
3. O'Reilly Auto
4. Mustang Parts of Oklahoma
5. Summit Racing
6. Jegs
7. Mustangs Unlimited
8. Mustangs Plus
9. CJ Pony Parts
10. "Pull-A-Part"

I can honestly say that every business transaction I have been involved with involving this Mustang (so far) has been GREAT. I've met some great people. When Jegs figured out that the Accel distributor burned out because of a resistance wire in the wiring harness, they replaced it at NO CHARGE, even though it was obviously MY STUPID MISTAKE.

I personally believe that AS YE SOW, SO SHALL YE REAP. If you treat everybody you deal with the way you want to be treated, most of them will treat you really good. (Before you start slamming me on this statement, note that I said MOST OF THEM.)

How about this idea: successfully using a "quick change" kit for a Holley vacuum secondary. It took me a long time to figure out how to use the thing without tearing up the secondary diaphragm. After having the little screws grab the rubber and twist it unrecognizably (several times, I'm ashamed to admit), I figured out that a little squirt of lithium grease into the hole will keep this from happening.

Off topic: this "post" mechanism really needs a spell checker.

Ok this is too cool!
I have some ideas:
How about converting to a single wire alternator and losing the voltage regulator.
Or how about something on fitting fiberglassparts parts like an apron or hood.

Or, how about doing a custom carpet kit for your trunk(64-66)?

Ooo, how about doing a automatic to manual T5 transmission swap in a 64-66 stang. Very detailed please.

This would be simple I think which makes me scared, but what about adding electric windows to a 64-66 stang.

Ah, what about doing a Neg. wedge kit.

And lastly, what about lowering. how about shoing us how far you car will go down for each half coil you cut on a 620 spring? Or if there is another or better way to lower your front end then explain and show that! I think the rearend is self explainitory, reverse eye springs or lowering blocks.

And Ron, I thank you personally so so much for your article on removing your seat risers and moving them back and down. You guys saved another tall guy! :nice:
