Mustang Plus Upgrade ?

I would go with the heavy duty shackle kit. You won't regret it. I was able to bend my stock shakles by hand. The heavy duty's are really tough if they are the 1/4 inch plate on each side ones. I would stay away from too much poly though. You want a bit of give to absorb some of the small stuff. If you use all poly in the rear... depending on what springs(i have the 4 1/2 leafs) the car can bucks really bad and wont plant the tire as well. I also have SSM lift bars so I am not sure if that is helping the situation either but I kind of wished I had a 4 leaf spring in the rear. I changed the rear eyelet to the poly but left the front one rubber too. Bit too stiff still. The 620s are gonna be really stiff so that is what you may be looking for, go for it. I would get the biggest sway bar (1 1/8th i believe) in the front and either a small or no rear for handling purposes. The car will lean a little more but will plant the front outer tire in corners which is what you want. If you are gonna do a stiff suspension i suggest getting some sub frame connectors to help stiff up the chassis so it doesnt get beated or torqued apart too bad.

I used to have 4 leaf springs and had real bad wheel hop. When I put in high performance 5 leaf springs, wheel hop went away and traction improved greatly, even without slapper bars! I have poly in the rear eyelet with heavy duty shackles, but rubber in the front eyelet.

Just finished puttin in all my parts. If you're thinking about going with the kit, make sure to get leaf spring bushings seperately. I didn't pay full attention ordering and didn't notice they weren't included and had to wait for them to come grrrr. I'll let ya know how it rides, my first time in with the new suspension I'll be able to let you know how different it feels compared to the stocker type stuff.

I ordered the super suspension kit from Laurel Mountain and they included EVERYTHING I needed to completely rebuilt front and rear suspension - I didn't have to order anything more. As a bonus, they also inlcude handling kit - front & rear sway bars along with KYB shocks.

If you're going to run the car at the strip like you said, you definitely don't want those 620's. They won't allow good weight transfer to the rear on launch. A good compromise would be the variable rate springs now offered for our cars; they come in three different rates if I remember correctly. A one inch front sway bar is plenty for the street: remove it at the track. 3/4 or 7/8 for the rear.

How would a stiffer front spring affect the weight transfer to the rear? I am little puzzled?
