Mustang Re-Designed in 2008

Hey Everyone,
In Last Month's issue of Motor Trend, there was an article that talked about Ford re-designing the Mustangs in 2008 in anticipation to challenge the New Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger.

Well in this month's issue of Motor Trend, there is an article titled "Ford Fights Back!" The article talks about the New Boss 302 and Fusion Coupe, but it also states: "The Hugely Successful Mustang is scheduled to get a major makeover in 2008, just in time to meet Chevy's new Camaro and Dodge's new Challenger head-on in this century's musclecar war. While the underpinning's will be largely carried over, we hear every exterior panel, apart from the roof center, will be changed. It'll still look like a Mustang, say Insiders, but will be less retro than the current car."

What do you all think? How do think that new 2008 Mustangs will look?

There is no redesign for 2008, only the BOSS model to keep us happy. The "less retro" Mustang comes out in August 2009 (as a 2010MY vehicle)

I don't think the next generation will be as "different" looking as the II's were. Maybe just a different look to them.

Yeah the mustang redesign is looking like it will be for the 2010 MY like mentioned already. I think the 2010 mustang will still look very much like the current Mustang, kinda like the difference between the 96-98s and the 99-04s.

It also looks like we may get the new 5.8L or 6.2L engines Ford is developing. The V6 also probably will get a healthy upgrade to a 265 hp V6.

I hope that they look like the 1969-1970 Mustang styling. The 2004-2007 styling is ugly.

I beg to differ, the only reason I sold my car and bought a S197 is because it has the retro look, very far from ugly. I think every mustang made after 1970 until the 05 came out have been uglier than sin. I would rather drive a Pacer than a Mustang II for instance. Not to mention I think the 05-07 draws a great deal of its design from the very model years you mention. To each his own but I think this S197 platform is beautiful, unlike the wanna be GTO and Charger that look nothing like their predecessors and in my opinion don't deserve the name. If it looks nothing like the original design why should it keep the same model name? Imagine if they made a four door Corvette? Would that still be a Corvette? No, it would be a Chevette.

If the looks of the new model are not to your liking, you can and should wait until the next generation comes out. Maybe those will look better to you?

I was going to wait for the '10 model to hit the streets, but I am now leaning towards a BOSS in '08 instead.

Just curious, then, why are you posting in the s197 forum, and even reading it? I mean, to each his own, that's why they have different car makes and models and such... But if you hate the S197, why are you here?

With a name like red2001gt you would think he liked the 2004 body, or did he mean he thinks 2005-2007 are ugly? A little lost and confused maybe?
