Driving from NM to CO in a few days. I'm a bit weary. I have 6600miles on her and have never taken her that far. Any suggestions or anything? I kinda don't want to but I do at the same time. I'm worried about technical problems but most of all any damage or anything from takin her that far. How's she do driving that far?

Just put in some nice tunes, stock up on some road food, and enjoy the ride. What in the world are you worried about? Cruising down the highway at 2500 rpm won't bother it a bit.

I took mine for a road trip from Hamilton, Ontario to Columbus, Ohio this past summer. Can't remember the exact mileage, but it was about 5 hours each way and the car was great. As long as you're not sticking some poor soul in the back seat, it's a very comfortable ride. Also, the gas mileage was much better than I expected. Enjoy the trip!

Took a trip to Jersey last summer. 8 hours each way and no issues other than bug guts!

Thanks guys. Its only about 400mi each way but she's my baby.....i worry. Haha but I'll just take it easy and keep an eye out. Hell, both eyes. Not because I'm a bad driver but because most everyone else is.

i did a 1100 mile trip with my car when it had less than 1500 miles on the odometer. dont worry about anything.

drove from Phx, AZ to Wichita, KS and not a problem cept for the slower cars in front of me... and it was about 1100 or so miles a short part of it was through the mountians in norther AZ

I just got back last week from a Seattle to Los Angeles drive and back. No big deal. About 2500 miles during two weeks. Its nice to kick back and cruise. To bad i also had to work.

Well, just got back from my trip. Im happy to say that Sally ran beautifully and it was a great ride. The only problem is bug guts and the saddness over all the paint chips now. Dont really think it was worth it cause the "vacation" wasn't all it was supposed to be. Poor Sally...

Well, since I drove 1000 miles to get my car...
I took it on a 1000 mile road trip (San Antonio, TX - Phoenix, AZ) when it had less than 50 miles on the odometer!

It was a good trip, especially on a road as open as I-10 (really open in Texas especially).
The problem was trying to vary my revs to better break it in. I didn't want to baby the thing at 2000-2500 rpms the whole way...

Exactly. It's the paint chips. As much as I love the GT on the highway, I'll rent a car if the road trip will be many hours at highway speeds. It's just not worth damaging the paint, although I did spend $495 to have the 3M paint protection film applied to the front bumper, front portion of hood, and headlights. This should do a nice job of protecting against bug juice and paint chips, but time will tell - this is the first car I had this done to. Driving defensively will help too. Stay well behind other vehicles, especially trucks. And if you know the weather is going to bad, get a rental.

I'm planning on taking a road trip from Fla to Tenn back to Fla (1200+ mile round trip) the end of May and I'm looking forward to it. A couple of months after I bought my GT, I got a Colgan nose mask ($99 & free shipping) via autoanything.com and it works great. I use it quite frequently and have just a few tiny chips and scratches
If you're going to take your Stang on any kind of road trip, a nose mask or clear bra is worth the investment. Then, you won't have to worry about anything and just enjoy the drive.

A buddy has an 06 vert and had the dealer paint his front end already because of paint problems. the last time he was over he checked mine out and said it was in good condition compared to what his was in prior to the new paint. I have alot more miles and a greater variation of driving conditions as well due to the fact that this is my Daily Driver. May be there was a bad batch of paint.
His is a redfire as well.
