mustang starts on its own?

alright so im posting for a friend that has a 89 mustang gt. it tends to start on its own and dies when it wants to. the fuel pump also went out so he got that replaced and then got another problem with getting no spark, replaced distributer, plugs, wires, coil. any help would be appreciated, thanks

ha something like that. well i got some more information from him that he should have told me ealier, now it makes more sense. the car will start up fine and run, but once it dies doesnt happen repeatedly. once it dies, he will get no spark. but after leaving it alone after awhile it'll start up? doesnt make that much sense but atleast the car doesnt need to be tied up ha

When it loses spark, put a test light across the electrical connector to the coil. If the test light flashes but there's no spark, the coil is likely bad. If there's no flashing, confirm he has constant 12V to the coil (the terminals are lableled + and -) and then have the TFI module bench tested several times in a row.

What do you mean starts on its own?? Like he's having breakfast in the kitchen and the Mustang all of a sudden just starts??? Throw some holy water on it and run if that's the case.

^ This post is awesome! It cracked me up just now in class (of course I'm not paying attention it's geology...) some classmates saw me laughing and wondered so I showed them and we were all laughing during lecture.

Anyway yeah **** like that can be scary. My previous mustang wouldn't die when I released the clutch in gear. It was just kind of scary.
