They had a comparo between the Evo and a Cobra in an issue of Hotrod not long ago. I think on stock tires the Evo actually beat the Cobra. Put DRs on the Cobra and it would butt-rape the Evo.

it was the STi vs. the Cobra. and the Cobra pulled 9mph more than the STi (which has 30 more hp than the Evo.) the STi barely (something like .03 seconds) edged out the Cobra. the trap speeds prove that the Cobra would destroy both the Evo and STi from a roll. if the guy from HR magazine could have pulled better than a crappy 2.3 60', he would have beaten the STi. btw, pulling something better than a 2.3 is NOT that hard to do. plenty of Cobra owners are pulling mid 12's stock.

I've seen evo's run in the high 15's.
Racing from rolls do suck, but the evo's awd is a beast when it comes to digging outta the box.

What can a stock 04 gt 5spd do against one of these? Err, the driver of the stang is pretty decent (me) the driver of the evo blows ass (ran a 15.5 and blames it on the turbo).

evo's are fast and run with the Cobra but if anyone had to choose one car is just way more attractive

um, how about, NO.

stock to stock, mod for mod, driver for driver, the 03/04 Cobra will DESTROY an Evo from a roll. from a stop, the Cobra still has the advantage in any race longer than an 1/8th mile. FYI stock Cobras trap 112+. Evos trap 100-104.

You really don't know what your talking about, the Cobra has horrible traction issues, if someone in a evo launchecs at 6 grand, the right way, he has the potential to smoke an Cobra. I love mustangs but yea, an Evo is competition for a Cobra and its right near the price range.

OMG, this isn't that hard to comprehend! from a stop, the Evo can get a jump on the Cobra, but by the 1/8th mile, the Cobra will be starting to pass it. it's as simple as the power to weight ratio. this is FACT not my opinion. yes, traction can be a problem with Cobras, but a 2.3' 60' is horrible even for a Cobra. ask any drag racer. like i said before, from a roll, the Evo is toast. awd is only good for the launch, after that, it hurts acceleration. again, this is a fact. please educate yourself before posting false information.
