JayC with stock, heads, cams, and bottom end. went 12.73. Doesn't mean everyone can. I've seen Jay drive and he is one of the best I've seen in person. Plus he likes him some BarBque.

Honestly though the 2v mod motor isn't a great performance platform. They don't like high rpm's, they don't make tons of lowend torque, and the aftermarket is still awful shallow for parts that actaully show an improvement.

What if I was a kid, you should still give me nods for being die hard about stangs, right? I mean, am I on Stangnet or Criticworld? Also last I read, you'd have to bolt on h/c/i on a 5.0 to achieve near 300 rwhp, same as a 2v 4.6 more or less.

Dude, this isn't your first post. Posts don't count in Talk

Anyway, good to hear you have passion for it regardless.

I think Ford should be more universal. Like the explorer intake on the 5.0's. They need to make more parts stock swap, like Hondas. it would be sweet to do something like take 2 heads off of a Focus or Ranger and make 40-50 more horse. But i also think they should do internals like cranks, rods, pistons. That will swap out to make a stroker kit or high compression.

It'll be nice to see a stock GT with 350hp. But knowing Ford it would be like 35-40k.

The Focus never came with two heads. The Ranger never came in a v8. Putting PI heads on an older NPI block bumps the compression. How much do you think an LS1 costs? You get what you pay for.

ha, right! well that explains alot! dude, don't be hatin' on the 2v man. I mean c'mon, you can make any mustang motor bada** if you do enough to it. there's this one guy on here i forget his screenname but he's got a 99-04 gt w/ all the bolt on's and cams and he's running like 12.79's. I mean that's pretty good for n/a w/ an almost stock motor. that would pretty much hang w/ a stock terminator and take a stock ls1!!

Yep as 04gtmustang said, thats me . Thanks....and even more importantly is my trap of 108.8. Faster than stock LS1s around here, and right there with stock 03-04 cobras. (they go 110-111 down here, although I have seen ALOT worse)

My ET was pretty good, but I was just on DRs with a pulled spare tire. If I had a setup like Jay C with slicks and skinnys the car would have went at LEAST a 12.4, but I dont want to put that much strain on the tranny and rear. Track is 80 miles away, I have to drive back home .

Thread starter....RIGHT ON man!

HAHAHA I thought you were talking about an LS1 F body....not just the motor. BUT you can get the whole car (98ish F body) for well under 10K.

Really if I were wanting a best bang for the buck car, id get a silver 02 SS...or black. The SS cars are just dead sexy

I want to thank everyone for their comments, whether we agreed or not, it's always nice to get stuff stirrin' and hear people's opinions. One thing I think everyone can agree on: 2v parts need to become more abundant and less expensive!!

Yeah, but 300rwhp will put u in the 12.5 or better range in the 1/4. Thats pretty good i think. 4v are better, 3v are good as well, but ford just makes such heavy cars, stangs should be 3100-3200lbs max.

I believe a 99-04 coupe GT wieghs in at around 3150 to 3200.......Machs and Cobras wiegh in at around 3450... I dont think wieght is the problem...Horsepower is the problem in the early 2vs...But the new 3v is pretty nice....

Just seen where a 02 SS m6 dynoed a 320 Rwhp bone stock!!!! Man thats like 370-380 Bhp.... Comeon ford....I think its time to bring the BOSS!!!

I didnt say it wasnt . But I personally am not a "red" kindof guy. I like black and silver the best I think....but thats definatly how it goes on the SS cars. And I think silver beats black as far as owning one simply because how easily the black cars get dirty, otherise black > silver. My friends 02 black SS...man

Oh and stock GTs weigh around 3350. Mine (premium GT...full option - mach 1000. So I got the 460 which suits my needs) with DD bullitts and tubular K, full weight with a full tank weighed in @ 3250#s. With the stock rims it would have been about 30#s lighter.
Mine weighs 100#s more than the 03-04 fiberglass Z06 2 seater...thats not bad IMO.
