So my CEL came on this morning driving to work and I took it to Autozone after work to get the code scanned. It pulled code P0153 only. My car runs great hand only has 78k miles on it. I have not owned it that long, but I am sure that the Bassani catted X pipe and magnaflow catback have only been installed for 3k miles or so. What does this code mean? How do I fix it? Is this related to my exhaust? I also installed a replacement K&N filter as well two weeks ago or so and maybe 300 miles ago. Could that be the cause messing up the MAF reading? I heard oil from the filter can screw the MAF up...

Finally, I own an SCT tuner for the car, can I program this out of the ECU? Do I need MIL eliminators or just replace the o2 sensors?

Thanks

P0153 means the front O2 sensor on the driver's side (B2S1) is too slow to respond. In general, O2 sensors should be considered to be maintenance items and 60K miles is a typical good lifetime for them. Many times they last longer but it's possible all of your car's 78,000 miles have been traveled with the OE sensors.

Just replace the one that's being flagged as a problem.

So does bank 2 sensor 1 mean the one closer to the engine or the mufflers?

Any chance the aftermarket exhaust or air filter have anything to do with the CEL?

Bank 1 = passenger side
Bank 2 = driver's side

Sensor 1 = front, before catalytic converters
Sensor 2 = rear, behind catalytic converters

I'll say 'no'.

Autozone sells Bosh sensors, is that acceptable or should I stick with OEM parts only?

Bosch is fine. Make sure you put some anti-seize on the threads if the sensor doesn't come with the stuff already on the threads.

Can I scan and clear codes with the SCT tuner without affecting the custom tune I have installed?

Yes.

After the codes are cleared the vehicle will need to complete a "drive cycle" for all internal OBD checks to complete. Bottom line: After clearing the codes, if you re-check them you may see a "P1000" come up. This is not an error or a sign that something is wrong. It just means the PCM hasn't completed its system checks since the last time the codes were erased.
