I have had several Mustang GT's from 1983 to present. My 2005 definitely is the quickest one stock. However my neighbors 2005 C6 Corvette only 228 miles(not even broken in) throughly thrashed by 'stang. Not even close. According to the magazines the two cars are only supposed to be within .5 secs of each other 0-60 and 1/4 mile correct? I got beat by several car lengths vs an automatic at that. My neighbor claims that his new bowtie can even beat a stock 2004 Cobra. This has got to be utter BS right? Also, my best friend has a Hemi 300c i can beat this car off the line, but from 55+ on the highway he pulls away. What gives???

05 Stang is not even in the same class as the C6 (hp or $). The 300c has a liter of displacement on you.

And a significant weight advantage goes to the 'vette.

I hate to break it to you, but there is always someone faster. No, you don't stand a chance against a C6. It has every advantage on you: Aerodynamics, Horsepower, Displacement, Weight. Even a stock '04 Cobra will lose that race every time. And unlike our trannies the 'Vette's automatic is actually faster than the 6-speed (without powershifting).
Now go buy a supercharger and some new shoes and make it interesting!

Dude,

The C6 has 100 horsepower and 1.4 liters of engine on you, as well as weighing less. All else being equal, a stock C6 is going to spank your GT. It also costs 2x as much, so take that into consideration...

werd. no shame getting beat by a car like that. you got a sweet ride too, just enjoy wat you got. if it makes you feel any better the only way my ride could beat yours is if we both were towing a boat...

Actually the consensus 0-60 time for a GT is 5.1 seconds and for a C6 it is 4.3 seconds. The C6 has a GT by 100 hp and 80 lb ft, and it weighs 300 lbs less.

That is a huge margin. I have a C6 and it has rather brutal power.

YES, there is always someone faster than you, I know, I have run into them a couple of times. However, a stock C6 does not run away from my 04 Cobra, he pulls a little from a dig but after that my nose stayed right by his front tire. However, the other neighbor in his srt10 leaves me in the dust, as well as a highly tuned foxbody up the road a bit. But as long as your car is fast enough for you, dont worry about the few guys that can grab a gear and leave you hangin.

When has a stock GT ever been close to a Corvette?

My 05 GT can I am able to pass a C6 vet any time I choose - the power in my GT is amazing. I step on her, and she's gone! Afraid or even intimidated by my neighbors C6! It's not even close! Of course, his is parked when I go by each day

Yeah Beastzilla, but just imagine what that Vette driver was thinking when he looked in his mirror:

"Damn, that is one good-looking Mustang!"

What gives is that practically ever type of car has an expensive version that runs 13's. Gone are the days where a handful of muscle cars dominated the roads. At least Cobras will still put just about anything away. And at least Mustangs are fast, RWD, loud, and American.

haven't got the chance to race an '05 yet, but I have raced a couple of different sn95 mustangs and stomped them. 5.7L hemi might be a bit heavier, but has 340 hp and 390 ft/lbs tq. I'm still waiting to line up with a '05.
