Well, I got my 4.10's and they are great!
Anyone who thinks these are too much gear and go with 3.73's are nuts.
1st gear is very strong and still very usable.
2nd gear pulls like a bull!
I wouldn't mind seeing what the 4.30's could do.
My dad and I installed them and did a PERFECT job.
Long day, but we did the job to absolute perfect specs.
Can't wait to pull up on another stang to see what the 4.10's do.

just take the time to learn how to drive with them & they will do a lot. if not you will just see a lot of smoke from the rear of the car some people seem to have a hard time adjusting to them i took about 5 min of adjusting & i was ready to go

I love how you explained 1st and 2nd gear, guess by the time you hit 3rd the gear the car had nothing left. I'm just missin around I have a 373 gear, i put it in so my car has ballz on the high way. I would get a 430 if i had a 6speed tranny. Its time for some slicks and take it to the track.

I didn't have to re-learn at all.
Felt comfortable immediately.
I love being able to start in first gear and not even have to touch the gas.
I can also start in 2nd, but 1st is sooo much fun.
I haven't spun my tires yet, but then again they are brand new and I have not gotten on it too much due to the gear break in period.

Howd you do the install? Did you follow the online guides?

I'm curious because my father thinks we can do it, but I have my doubts.

ppsshhhh.... spin em i had to when i first got mine in my old car. i just wanted to feel how differently it pulled & found out first gear can loose traction pretty easy but after that i was good to go.

btw - i was reffering to launching your car hard. it definately is different, but nothing sticky tires can't fix

You wanna race or something? Give me 50 cars, i'll hold 373s in the box, then we'll see who wins. As for you taking me out on the highway with that gear, <when the gear is in the car not me running lol> well its a big Stop being racist against the 373.

It's not that bad but it is Tool and Time consuming.
I followed these guides:
http://www.corral.net/tech/drivetrain/gears.html
http://www.superstallions.com/tech/drive/gears/gears.html
These guys were great!
I used the idea of heating the pinion bearing in boiling water and freezing the
pinion in a freezer. This allowed me to easily install the pinion bearing on the pinion. This process was used in place of a press.
I also boiled the ring and froze the differential for the same reason, very easy.
The hardest part was removing the differential from the housing; YOU NEED A PULLER! one of the guides says you can hit it out with a mallot; NO WAY!
I was fortunate to have a dial indicator to adjust the backlash; we were perfect!
The other hard part was reinstalling the differential with the shims.
This was pretty tough. Just takes patience and time.
The entire job took us about 10 hours. More time than usual but we took our time and like I've already said 1000+ times, we did it PERFECT!
I can safely say that I could do this job again without instructions and in much less time.
One note - I was a little displeased in the Ford Racing Gears.
The pinion had a couple of imperfections on the tips of the blades.
No big deal 'cause they never touch the ring anway but the original 3.27 pinion was flawless.
I have no gear whine and the gain in torque is wonderful!
DO NOT GO WITH 3.73's!!! You'll be pissed! 4.10's rock!

Well in 10 years when you finally get your car back, I'll probably have my Kenne Bell so I'll have a go at you.

any of you guys with 4.10s gonna keep the 4.10s once you spray nos or install a blower?i will be getting gears within the next week and everyone is like 4.10s+blower=no traction..my car will never see the track..im going to be putting on a blower in nov/dec of 04 when the funds are available. I also dont want to have drag radials on my car for street tires..can 4.10s and blower be possible?only suspension mods i will have are lowering springs, subframs, and lca's...i guess i wont really care about 1st gear traction..i just need 2nd and on..let me know guys. The car will also be driven on the highway once a week going 50miles each way..(gotta go to southbeach atleast once a week)

That was just wrong. Your going to need that KB to bet the 373 gear.
