My 97 cobra Temp. gauge stays on the A on NORMAL.

what temp. is that at? thats seems off but my buddys 97 obra has the same problem and so does my buddsy 96 Gt. Should I buy a bigger radiator?

first things first, get an aftermarket temp gauge.. the stock ones are retarded, they all read diffrent.. mine was up near the a in normal, and thats right at 190 degrees.. while my last car was at the o, at 190 degrees.. you really cant tell by the stock gauge, other than that if it gets into the red its too hot.

you may or may not need to do something to the car, but a 40 dollar gauge is a heck of alot better than a 200 dollar rad

stock radiator is fine. It will help though, if you pull it out and take it to a radiator repair shop and let them hot tank it and clean it.

Yea...you only need to worry if the needle goes significantly past it's *regular position on a hot day with the A/C on*...seriously, the guage does work...it's just not an indication of actual temp. It's a relative thing you know?

OR drop a 180 degree thermostat in and a bottle of RedLine Water Wetter (available at just about any auto parts store) - that will likely get the temp down. A full coolant system flush would probably be a good idea as well. Has it always sat on the "A" when warm or did this just start recently?

My cobra usually runs right at r-m range of normal. My cooling system is stock but I do have the fan programmed to come on about 20deg earlier.

on the highway it runs between the R and M but on the streets its on the A. only had car for month and it has 48,000 miles.

there is nothing wrong with that car. Dont wadte your time and get it looked at. If you do they might sell you something you dont need. Flush it. and put in some water wetter if you are worried. Nothing else is needed.

Agreed! Sounds like the previous owner may have installed a 180 degree thermostat already. Flush it, then buy 2 gallons of Prestone and mix 50/50 with tap water and and a bottle of RedLine WaterWetter. You'll be as cool as a cobra...!
