the contour and that escape most certainly have compressor clutches they use a different compressor then the new mustang with quieter clutch operation. as far as your a/c struggling try completely venting all the hot air out of your car prior to going for a drive and then running it full blast on recirc. you gotta get air over that condenser for the a/c to blow optimum. so if your at a stop or only driving around town its not gonna blow as cold. check the intake into the blower motor, is it obstructed by leaves and other debri? if it is your not gonna have air go through the registers as hard which will make it feel like your a/c isnt as cold as it should be. lastly you might be low on refrigerant.hethj7 said:Maybe the new Fords do, but my 98 contour and my girlfriends 2002 Escape don't do it.
My A/C could be colder......it really struggles to keep up on hot summer days, especially with my black interior.
