Ok so here's my situation....

The torque converter is brand new, it was properly seated and all when I installed it on the trans, and the throttle valve cable is properly hooked up...but that shouldn't prevent it from shifting into park even if it wasn't.

The shifter cable is hooked up and it shifts the trans through all the gears but the car doesn't move at all.

I just pulled the pan under the transmission and it doesn't look like there's anything broken, the trans is shifting on the inside also, so idk what to do at this point....

Try and clear a few things up first.

are you sure the linkage is hooked up?

what do you mean by "its shifting on the inside"?

when you pulled the pan did you make sure the transmission was properly refilled?

whenever you refill it, if you just fill it up and look at the stick and it says its full, chances are its not. Turn the car on and put it in gear and allow the transmission to cycle for a little bit. while the car is running (but not in gear) check the fluid level again, chances are its gonna be low. i had a similar issue when i installed shift kit in mine. and it takes a pretty good bit of fluid to refill it back up.

edit: new torque converter means that much more to fill up with fluid.

I had a problem with my tranny not shifting out of park. The problem i had was that some saftey relay for the brakes lights had broken and wouldnt let me shift out of park. To get it to shift out i had to turn the key so that the accesories were on but not the motor, then shift to nuetral then start the car. Took me a while to figure that out, not sure if its your problem.

Yes the linkage is hooked up, what I meant by on the inside is that after I dropped the pan I checked out the shift rod n all inside the trans n it's moving properly.... long story short I took the driveshaft n inserted it into the trans n spun it a bit, then pulled the driveshaft back out n started the car n moved it through the gears....the guy who I bought the trans from had installed a new shift kit, and I had put in a new torque converter....so it seems like it just took some time for the fluid to cycle through the trans... I put new fluid in n cycled through the gears n the trans started to shift properly, I didn't think bout it but it makes sense that it would take a lil while for the fluid to circle through the trans.

Anybody have a new shift cable? I just broke mine......lol
