My Bassani catback came today! I have a question for you guys regarding install

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!

WHoa whoa whoa whoa whoa..........

I just had my mom drive it down the street for me to see if I could hear the rattle. You can only hear it from the inside, you cant hear anything from the outside, so its not that big of a deal. Needs to be fixed, but everything is safe.

On a side note.......OMG!!!!!!! OMG! It sounds SOOOOOO GOOD! Words cannot describe how much better it sounds outside the car than it. Its soo deep, its actually MORE echo'ey than the flows, its not at all tinny, it sounds PERFECT. Guys, this is coming from a man who used to sware by flowmasters. My exhaust sounds like a work of art. Now, I don't know if its becuase im a 32V cobra, but I am willing to bet the GTs will sound Almost the same at low rpm. OMG its just as loud outside the car as the flows now, but its got an exotic alienship like burble and its really deep. I can't even think of words to describe it. It sounds LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than anything Magnaflow or Borla. Hell it sounds better, IMO, than ANY other exhaust. I am in love.

Sorry for the rambling, but my God I am soo happy with the way it sounds. My sony digicam doesnt load sound on the CPU, or else i'd get a video clip up pronto for you guys. I am soo happy with it I could jump up and down. I have finally found the PERFECT exhaust.

Now to try and figure out that rattle...

LMAO.....

I'm glad you like it man, I know how you feel. There is no other exhaust that sounds like it and with the X pipe it's music to my ears. I can only imagine what your 32v sounds like.

Almost forgot, the rattle. I have it to. I'm pretty sure it's either the tail pipe hitting or it's hitting the gas tank. There is a LOUD knock when the muffler hits.

It's decieving becuase inside the cabin its soo quiet and mellowed, but outside the car it has soooooooo much more charactor. I still have that burning smell so hopefully they will keep getting louder.

Me and my brother were thinking of putting some kind of rubbery adhesive in between the pipe and fuel tank to give it a cushion. Problem is, I have no idea what we would use. Hot glue gun? :D

I got some info from Bassani through my email. I'm looking for the same cat-back. They told me all of their cat-backs come with Street Competition mufflers by default. Quiet Thunder mufflers must be special ordered. But thats only if you order through them. They told me dealers are different. Glad you like it. Damn, can't wait to order mine. As for those holes. They are for the baffles. They come with the Stainless Steel not the BX series. But you can order them for the BX.

As for the knock...

I think I'll have mine professionally installed so I won't have any knock on my Mustang.

Looks like his didn't come with baffles. I heard they don't really make a sound difference if you don't have an X-pipe. I got a question now. If our exhaust is stainless steel (I think?), and the BX series is aluminized, does that mean we are downgrading in quality?

You'll get mixed opinions on that. As far as I can tell, aside from looks and steel being stronger (also heavier) that's about it. I wouldn't call it a downgrade, but it's not SS. I don't show the underside of my car, so I could care less what it looks like down there.

Completely agree with you. I live in Florida so by the time my exhaust rusts out ill be dead. :D

On a side note, every gas station down here (FL) is out of gas. Everyone is panicing because of "Ivan" thats going to hit us. I had to fill up my Cobra with 87 octane becuase everyone is either out of everything, or only have regular. I also have a timing adjuster (13*) so I think im gonna be royally ****ed. :( Gotta try to remember to keep it under 3k rpm at all time. I spent an hour looking for gas, and now I have a headache from the tailpipe chatter. D'oh.

That's what I meant by downgrading. Isn't aluminized a cheaper material than SS?

Yea, its a cheaper material. But it flows the same, makes the same power, is cheaper, and for most of us will last longer than we will even own the car. I've run aluminized exhausts on both my cars and none were even beginning to rust.

wish someone would find a way to keep the tailpipe from hitting, it's terrible with full 3" cat-back, and yet i wanna get wider tires on top of that. best thing i can think of is heat tape for headers and wrapping it around alot of times.

You know, that may work. But I doubt it would cure all the noise, maybe just muffle it.

It's driving me crazy!

Anyone have any ideas? i'm about to try header wrap but I didn't buy any yet becuase i'm skeptical. I have no idea how to go about solving this.

Climb back under there, loosen everything up and wiggle it around again. I know it doesn't seem like it can get any better, but it can. Maybe the header wrap and then a fat rubber piece to wedge between it? I know how much it can get on ones nerves, I have had the issue for almost 2 years.

yea its amazing how quiet the bassani cat backs are at first i started mine up drove it around and i was like wtf sounds about stock and my gf was like you sure they changed it and i was like yea and she was like oh then the next day i drove around with the baffels in for half the day and half without (heard the baffels help break it in faster) and then then i picked my gf up the next day and it was still quiet i then left it running for 20 mins while i was takling to my friends and that and we left and wow it finally woke up and souned like something....the sound is amazing and you will get compliments all the time and it even sounds better with a prochamber!
