Yep, a whole lot of waiting, complaints, and nastygrams sent to redline tuning, just for a simple set of hood struts...

anyway, we put'em on Saturday morning just before i got overly intoxicated....being as drunk as I was, I forgot to mention that I got them sooner...anyway, here's some pictures of them....install took less than 20 minutes using only a few minor tools..

tell me what you think

thats sweet ive wanted those but never got them because I wasnt sure how they attach or if they would work for my cobra R hood...can you take pics of where they attach please dude?!

There great for shows because you dont need your hood propped open with our massive hood prop.

in some it looks higher and aome lower. Can you set them at a desired angle??? and give us a link were you got them from. how hard was the install?

I don't see why not. I mean, the stock hood is sooo much heavier than the aftermarket ones.

I think he means the attaching points, Nacho, I'll get some close in pics of the mounting points tomorrow after work for those who want to see where the rivets go. It's mounted very securely, and the instructions that come with it are very clear and concise.

The hood stays open at the halfway point, I don't think it's meant to do that, but it's a balance thing...right in the middle, the hoods weight vs the strength of the struts holds it easily in a lowered position.

As for opening the hood, it's a breeze now....simply unlatch, and toss the hood upward, and the struts do the rest.

a friend got me these for my birthday, and besides the horrible wait time (they said they shipped it right away, but it must have gotten lost....) , I'm thoroughly impressed, and like stated before, at car shows, it allows much more of the engine bay to be focused on, since people aren't worried about whacking the prop

our hoods are fiberglass.....trust me, mine split open when i hit the deer last night

aaron, do you notice any problems without having the underhood insulation thing there? ive heard people say that the hood will get discolored from the heat?

My stock hood was steel I swear, or aluminum mabye but it was pretty heavy and was metal for sure.

Sweet glad someone got these I allways wanted them so I could keep my hood 1/2 propped at car shows like in that pic. Now I just gotta see if they will work on a cobra R where they attach.

Air forced between the inner and outer panels can produce enough pressure to force the outer panel upward.

Dealers will inspect the hood area for any damage along the leading edge of the hood. If there is any evidence of bond separation, the hood will be replaced. If there is no evidence of bond separation, additional adhesive will be applied between the inner and outer hood panels. Owner notification began November 10, 1997. Going out to take pictures once I'm out of uniform....its gross and muggy here today

anyway, the hood question...

our hoods are made of fiberglass, if you buy these hood struts, you'll figure that out when you have to drill a small hole, and BANG...shards of fiberglass everywhere!

The skeleton of the hood is metal, that's where the weight comes in....

looks sweet. I need something like that cause my hood prop doesn't have a thing to hold it anymore when when its down and if a good gust of wind comes by my hood will fall. Happened when I was working on my suspension a while. Back good thing I was sitting on the ground next to the car and not under the hood.
